Right, like anyone here really cares about the 'big youtubers,' who like to make money off of other people's work, simply by streaming themselves playing it. No thanks.

Why are people assuming things it doesn't say? It says "You may not monetize your video via the YouTube partner program or any similar programs on other video sharing sites.". It actually doesn't say you can't monetize the videos you make at all. Just that you can't use YouTube or similar programs to do it. That means that people who gather donations or have partnerships are not affected by this rule. Well unless their site requires a paid subscription. The license flat out says someone can't do it.
You know, threads like these continually remind me of the following SNL skit:

I've posted it on the forums before, and sadly, I just keep seeing more opportunities to post it.
Everyone thought paid retainers and fantasia would be the end of it.
You were warned.
Cash shop in, TrystWildkey out.
Np. ^^b Also keep in mind that unless the right holders are total d**ks (which this tos agreement seems to say otherwise), they'll send a warning letter first. It'll sound stern cause it's in legalise, but it's just their way of asking you to take the stuff down. As long as you go "Yep, sorry about that. Didn't realize I was stepping on your toes." you'll be fine.
The official word can be hard to get since someone will usually have to tap a lawyer's shoulder >.<. Good luck though. If you get a reply, post it here. I'm interested in knowing the official word too. ^^b
Oh, Also this actually does not effect game reviews and such, Game sites need only ask the SE PR for permission and state they are showing a video, upon consent they are allowed. Which has been the norm for all video reviews. as if they did not they would face legal trouble.
Lets not twist and skew it like its the end of the world, the moral of this agreement is, Unless SE says or gives permission you cant. I find it hard to believe the big reviewers wont just ask. Makes sense to ye or nay advertising... dont want a person making your stuff look bad cuz they wanted a quick buck
Though it has become painfully clear that many of the video makers that are getting money are likely breaking the law.

Funny that everyone seems to get hung up on YouTube and doesn't think of the whole picture.
That means any advertising partner programs, including the ones on Twitch.tv or any other streaming site. Right now, out of the top 10 FFXIV channels, 5 are currently using monetizing advertisements and subscription plans. Those channels comprise over 8000 viewers, which is over 70% of current viewership watching FFXIV.You may not monetize your video via the YouTube partner program or any similar programs on other video sharing sites.
I'd be interested to see if Twitch or SE actually do anything about that and risk the publicity hit that would bring, or just ignore it and show this restriction has no teeth.
Actually, reviews fall under fair use, so they do not even need approval to use footage. A ton of people in this thread have no idea how copy-write law actually works. In reality SE could force down anything not covered under fair use that is making money, these include guides, highlights, raid videos, or whatnot. However, the clause they used only gives them the option to pursue take down notices, but does not mean they will do it. I would wait until they actually start forcing stuff down before bringing out the pitchforks.
oh how cute you decided to put me on your original post... it's still a bitchfest and again it's their decision so again cry me a river build me a bridge and please get the fuck over yourself if they have a problem with it they'll go to se and ask for permission to do it it's not your place to be the big champion on it
