I don't care about that. Maybe I will still use Money Option on youtube.

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.
He who learns but does not think, is lost. He who thinks but does not learn is in great danger.
Every video that gets posted on youtube I am going to strip the audio from it and overlay some death metal into the video. I'll reupload it to youtube and report the video to Square Enix so everyone who posts videos on youtube gets banned.
Also, lets not forget the fact that 99.9% of ALL OTHER GAMES allow twitch.tv streamers to stream their game. But FF14 thinks they are making the right choice to disallow streamers if they have a partnership.
HORRRIBLE FUCKING DECISION. GET A BRAIN MORANS!

The NDA lasted until mid day Yesterday. No launch technically xD
Also.. Thanks Obama!
I cannot believe how many people sit and think this is a good thing.
Yes videos will still be made, by amatuers, awful crappy videos that just make the game look bad will be made.
The big Youtubers, the ones that actually make decent quality videos and really show the game off, and know what they are doing, the ones that actually get games lots of new players, the ones that when they play a game it hits the top 10 Steam sales list for days. They will not even touch this game now. So yeah GG SE, throw away those free sales.
For example, the Yogscast, when they make a video about a new game they can get up to 1million+ views. And the game will hit the steam top 10 for sure all down to them.
But that is their job, and they will not go around working for free due to ridiculous policys by Square. So they will not touch this game at all now, and it was looking quite likely they would due to them trying 1.0 and hating it in a very humorous fashion. So that is advertising to 1+ million people gone, they actually have almost 6 million subscribers, and that would have turned into a lot of sales.
So yeah, you can all go patting SE on the back for this decision all you like, and calling people greedy, but you need to open your damn eyes and realise it is not all about a player wanting to make money, it is about the fact now not one big Youtuber will show this game, and not only will that loose them the massive free advertising to millions of people, but the people who already knew of game will probably wonder why none of them are playing it, and will probably assume it is due to it being a bad game.
When you search youtube to see what a game is like and only find crappy fan videos on the game it is a bad sign, and will not encourage anyone to buy the game. And this is what it is going to be for FFXIV now.
I for one am utterly dissapointed that SE are this short sighted, it is becoming a trend for Japanese developers to not realise the power of Youtube, Nintendo has done the same and it not only lost them the enitrity of their free advertising on Youtube, it made people not respect them any longer, Most Youtubers refuse to even talk about Nintendo now. For example on a recent videos of E3 I seen several Youtubers avoid the Nintendo area on purpose and make jokes about it, they lost that free coverage because of their attitude towards Youtube.
But yeah, obviously SE can do better without them, just go watch their advert.... oh.. yeah.... its god awful and won't encourage anyone to play, and instead make us players look like utter morons.
Total Biscuit says it a lot better then I can http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybJr3SDB42Y

I read your post when you updated it, I think you got to about here before you responded in a crappy way even denouncing someones opinion after asking in a thread what they thought. I imagine you either looked like an asshole or an idiot... it seems from here they treated you as such.Did I say people can't make videos? No. I quoted exactly what the issue is.
Regardless of your opinion about the YouTube video making community, the point is, ARR will not get nearly the coverage it could have gotten because of this policy in regards to monetization on YouTube. SE isn't in the business of charity and neither are most big YouTubers.
Like I said, it's free promotion that SE doesn't have to pay for, why deny them monetization? They aren't paying for any of it? But they will in a negative way now.
FFXIV has spent a great deal on advertising, TBH you can easily take the cut on youtube. also again they told you about how it only effects those trying to make money. anyway you swing it, All it means is that every youtube video wont be making money. and will only be promoting the game.
There is no need to reply to this directly, I said what I had to say and pointed out your initial mistake, which would be denouncing someone after asking there opinion. It is very easy to see where it would go from there.
