Things may be different but know this, I started FFXI on PC and got the 360 version in around 2008. As soon as I logged in on my 360 I got about 40 trophies for things I'd previously done on PC.

Not to necro-bump, but I wanted to clarify how FFXI 360 achievements works: If you had played, and accomplished things that would count as an Achievement on the 360, while you were on your PC (or PS2 as I had done), you had to go visit a NPC (I believe there were more than one, but I remember going to Whitegate) and asking him to "Check for Achievements", in which case there is a pause, as I guess the game is scanning your progress, then you get that familiar bleep-bloop! I was currently searching around about how this works with FFXIV and PC/PS3 switching. I haven't really looked closely at the list of Trophies, but I had just started crafting on PC, and when I hopped on my PS3 later that evening, I got a Trophy after I started crafting on there.
Wish me luck!

In FFXI, it was the bard NPC's that could set your current title to any title you had previously earned. They were in many places. While each one usually would only be able to restore specific titles connected to the area where that specific NPC was located, all of them could set ALL of the Xbox Live achievements you had earned... one at a time. You just had to keep talking to that NPC until it said "You have no achievements to unlock".Not to necro-bump, but I wanted to clarify how FFXI 360 achievements works: If you had played, and accomplished things that would count as an Achievement on the 360, while you were on your PC (or PS2 as I had done), you had to go visit a NPC (I believe there were more than one, but I remember going to Whitegate) and asking him to "Check for Achievements", ......
I still have not found any NPC in FFXIV that could do this for PS3 Trophies.
