Every time I see a "square enix deserves to be punished for this, remember 1.0?" posts makes me ashamed to live in this country.

This is not 1.0 and this is not even remotely a failure. There are so many people that want to play this game that it is quite literally almost a victim of its own success. The launch has not even been all THAT bad. 1.0 broke my heart. But this, ARR, is the game I've been waiting to play for ten plus years. It is everything I have wanted and more. I love it. It is literally the only game I have looked forward to in several years.

It's obvious this whole dev team cares and the stupid attitude a lot of the teen-angst players are showing is absolutely disgraceful. But that's alright. I've already put in for my 180 day subscription because I recognize the actual issue and that this game is (and will be) phenomenal. I wish others would view the issue similarly.

I really think the F2P crowed and the people who wanted to race to lvl. cap and be ahead of everyone else but could not log in are the worse at complaining about the launch bugs.
Most people are not anrgy at bugs, mots people are angry about server congestion, which isnt caused by bugs, but by having less servers than what they should in order to earn more money by spending less because they know a portion of the players will leave soon.

And yes, almost every MMO has this same problem, and in EVERY one of them people have rightfully complaint about it.

I enjoy the game and haven't said a negative word against it. But reading your posts is disgusting. You are a horrible white knight and just as bad as the filth throwers at the other end of the spectrum.
Early Access. Was not advertised as a maybe. Play early. If someone was completely unable to play then the fault lies with SE, no if ands or buts. Stop being condescending, SE isn't perfect, it's ok the admit that.
I want this game to succeed, I truly enjoy playing it. First impressions are everything. Word of mouth is huge. It's likely they will find a happy niche after the initial rush, but I'd like this game to find more commercial success and reward the hard work of those that contributed so much it. People like you aren't helping that. Infact you're just dividing the community and causing a stir. If you just let people vent and blow off their frustrations eventually they will settle down or go away, either way feeding the flames of their rage helps no one.

I see a picture of him wiping a tear from his eyes.

There’s a link to a video that’s in Japanese so most people in the English forum can’t understand it. I don’t at what point in his speech he’s at when starts when he starts to tear up. He could saying something like “It’s been a wonderful an experience these past three years. Thank you all for your faith in me <sob> <sob>, your support <sob> <sob>…. I promised myself I wouldn’t do this…”

There’s an article stating that states:
“Naoki Yoshida held a final speech during which he apologized for the server issues happened during the three days of early access, remembered the three years of hard work gone into creating the game and thanked the fans for their patience and faith in the development team. In a definitely emotional moment, the ever-smiling producer was moved to tears as he tried hard to keep his composure.“

All that stuff mentioned in between the apology and the tears makes me think might they might be unrelated.

Don't be part of the problem by generalizing that Americans fans are entitled. It's not helpful for the community to divide itself by turning on other fans.

Hopefully the launch servers falling over means that FFXIV is getting way more attention than expected.
I haven't been able to play as much as I wanted, but the game is pretty good. The launch problems will be fixed soon enough.
but Americans ARE assholes. That's coming from an American.

You missed the fact that he tears up exactly after he apologizes for the problems in early access, and then continues sobbing almost through the whole thing. So yes. They're related, understandably so.

Here's Reinheart's translation of the whole event, which is much better of what I could come up with. You can check towards the end.

I'm American and I agree with you completely. It's pathetic. I spent two hours waiting for live chat yesterday only to get kicked at # 2 in queue. No freaking big deal people. I did other things, life is not all about gaming. Yes we could not get on but given how long it actually takes to make a game they did a huge amount of work in a short amount of time and just because you didn't get your personal moderator message to your dozens of griping posts doesn't mean they weren't listening. They've done a lot, allow then a break.

I'll probably get flamed for this but WTH. I'm enjoying the game and I'm happy to lend my patience to people that are working hard for the pleasure of another.

I wonder if you even by the above statement alone you sound exactly like the 'elitists' from WoW. People buy a service, if they can't use that service they complain. Some, do so in better ways than others. Saying "Oh it's mostly the Americans" is just a racist thing to say (even if it might be true). As someone said, the complaints (from those I've seen) aren't personal attacks, but they are directed towards the devs. With 4 phases of beta, the last being a launch day simulated stress test, I'm not quite sure how there could suddenly be server problems. I understand these things pop up, but people are still going to voice their displeasure if they feel slighted. Nature of the beast with online games.

I think the whole dev team did a great job, as a beta tester from 1.0, I can see the time and effort they put to make this a better game, which is why I pre-ordered.

Bugs happen, people complain, Day 1 bugs? People complain like the world is ending, that's just how it goes. Heck, if I remember correctly, the devs for Star Wars Galaxies (that completely died at launch) actually had death threats from people. So, yes folks, peoples is crazy for IP they feel passionate about.

So, if any of the devs are actually reading this; Great job, keep up the good work. Fix the servers and everyone will love you again. YoshiP, in short, you da man!

Regarding Congestion in Japan Data Center Worlds (Aug. 27)

...In order to be able to welcome a drastically greater number of players, we are starting as early as this week with preparations to increase our facilities, to be ready by early next week. Until that time, we will be continuing to implement these restrictions as required, and we ask for your understanding and patience.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and once again thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
Yup, Japan DC got hit with the 1017 in their prime time tonight, and boom- because "Congestion in Japan Data Center Worlds", not the EU/NA one, they are planning to expand capacity. Japan DC has one day of congestion via 1017, and SE is on the ball. NA/EU DC has 4 days of congestion and they are told to deal with it. Coincidence? You decide.
