It's a little bit more than that, just because you've also got to factor in the time it took them to level their crafts so they can repair it in the first place.
The person doing the repair also gains SP for doing the repair, so there's absolutely nothing that should make them charge more, since they get extra SP, and nothing is (at least with me) taken out of their own resource stock.
They don't always get SP. And when they do, it's relatively little. Usually less than 100 SP per repair. For a high level crafter who has to get 100,000 SP for her next level, getting 30 SP for your repair is not really worth the time.

I usually try to be generous when seeking repairs. I'll offer 10K to 20K for repairs. For me, it's not a matter of them needing to charge more. If someone is taking the time to help me out, I want to both repay their costs, and offer them a reward for their generosity. Think of it this way -- Someone may repair my gear for 1000 gil, but if I offer 10,000 gil, I'm getting more than just the repair. I'm saving time because lots of people will be willing to try the repair to get a generous reward. And I'm buying future consideration, because they'll be more likely to open my bazaar and do repairs for me in the future.

So far, money is really easy to get for battle jobs. But grinding a craft to the top levels can cost millions of gil. I want to help people who are willing to grind crafts, because having high level crafters on my server helps me out, since they can make me weapons and repair my high level gear. Anything I can do to encourage that is good.

Patience, AzNic. Money is hard to come by at first, but higher level leves offer much better rewards. When you start getting into your 30s, you'll be able to pull in 100K from doing 1 full set of leves.

And don't forget to check your leve rewards before exchanging leves. When you pick up new leves, you can exchange old ones. The number to the right of the leve that you're exchanging out is a bonus for exchanging that leve. The higher the number, the greater bonus you get for exchanging that leve. (If the number is zero, you don't get a bonus for exchanging it.) The numbers increase if you're exchanging a different type of leve, or if it's from a different city.

So what you want to do is pick up the leves with the highest rewards first, and exchange as many leves as you can for that one. That will increase the reward you get for that leve.

I've actually been able to get over 50K from one leve through this method. Before long, you're going to be sitting on millions of gil, and wondering what to spend it on.

Before the patch I gave between 5k-7k for a repair.
Now I give 10k+ for the same repair.

Definitely makes sense - particularly since I only had my first round of repairs since the patch that changed the durability decrease a while back. Took me so long to actually get them anywhere near damaged (I had to give in at 50%, compulsive need to have them shiny) that you can't really argue with giving a Crafter a decent reward. I see folk mentioning having issues getting repairs, but if you put up a decent reward, even the most AFK person is drawn back to the keyboard to help you out *grins*

I generally offer 3k-4k for <R30 repairs and up to 7k for a repair after that, more if I want it done quickly. With something with an obscure repair item like my Disabling Baghnakhs I tend to keep a small supply of the repair material on me. That's not an item I expect people to just have laying around so I just provide it.
