Having trouble getting to level 5 surplus or higher

Guildleves are pretty imbalanced on both ends of the leveling department right now.... soloing leves is useless for EXP, and partying for leves can net way too damn much EXP (especially if you are actively "saving" them)

Someday FFXIV will finally make the shift from guildleves being the main source of SP to field monsters and dungeon monsters.

Hell yeh! I hope for all levelling 50+ is strictly non guildleves.

Have two people play the character so that it's doing nothing but behest/leves and grinding trash mobs 24 hours per day and you'll get to level 5 surplus.

Let's all get level 5 surplus or die trying!

Perhaps they want everyone to level up to rank 50 because they are about to make ranks become, in effect, the tutorial stage before you select your job, where the real action begins?
