Having trouble getting to level 5 surplus or higher

I know surplus is bad and all and cuts your sp but I have been leveling near constantly on this game and I can't seem to get past level 4 surplus over the course of any given week. My conjurer went from level 27 to level 37 in one week before the surplus was reset and it didn't get past level 4 surplus. I also started leveling sentinel for the first time when I equipped a shield in an SP party on the first day of the surplus reset for my conjurer last week and it also capped out at level 4 surplus. It went from around 1 to 28 without getting to level 5 surplus. This is with constant SP parties and not changing my job, and I leave my game on around 18 out of 24 hours a day just to make sure my items are repaired.

Did SE remove higher than stage 4 surplus or whats the deal?

Yeah I have also had this problem, Recently it seems I am able to level much faster then before without being able to obtain Stage 5+ Surplus. SE really needs to fix this as I am leveling much to fast for my own good.

I completely agree with this. People complain about surplus all the time but at this rate I will be level 50 by the end of next week and really have not much else to do other than level another class, and I really only play a few hours in the morning and a few at night. The rest of the time I am doing schoolwork afking in uldah waiting for someone to repair my armor. The fact I can level so quickly completely takes the accomplishment out of leveling. I remember in ffxi when you got your next level it felt like an accomplishment but here I can just form an sp party for a few hours and get 100k sp+ and with leves its even worse. 8 people with dunesfolk, all cracked up and reveries? 300k over the course of 2 hours. It makes leveling feel like a joke.

Seriously, how hard was it to get to 50 in FFXI?

Not having anything else to do than leveling another class when you cap one is something I could agree with, but it is a totally different problem that they are addressing at the moment.

Its a new form of trolling. At one point he mentions 300k sp in 2 hours...give me a break so u are killing 150 mobs PER HOUR that each give 1k SP. Yeah I didnt think so.

Same... Stage 4 surplus then 90k sp later... still stage 4, wtf?

Yeah fact is over the next 2 days we will be having multiple runs in our LS just for this sole purpose, It seems ever since SE said this was ok it has become a standard practice in every LS in the game. It has gotten so bad we even have it down to a time so that more people can make said runs before everyone usually logs off for the night. But since SE posted it is ok I guess it is.

Yeah, I mean leves are great, but the fact that you can use that exploit to get such easy experience is incredibly ridiculous. And before all the casuals come in and say "I have a life outside of final fantasy it should be easy for me to level." That is complete BS. I am in law school and I have more than enough time to do all my work and play this game, while spending time with my friends and girlfriend and I still get way too much sp and exp over the course of the few hours I play each day.

The other argument I have seen is "well the fact that when you abandon you don't get rewards" is also complete nonsense. Gil is easy as hell to get in this game. I have more than enough gil to fund multiple classes just from doing leves every reset with an 8 man party, and still abandoning half the leves.

I know that level 50 isn't going to be the level cap but this game is under risk of having everyone at level 50 and no one having low levels just like final fantasy XI did, except years sooner. There will be no one to do leve parties with and there will be no one to do sp parties with for low level characters that have just started playing the game. How is SE going to keep customers if they sign up to play an mmo but what they get is an mso because there is no one to party with?
