Fatigue or surplus?

Fatigue was a completely screw up from SE and they are removing it, Though I do see where they were coming from. Its the same system as Rested XP from other MMO's its just backwards.
Instead of it being "Your Rested for XP" Earn xp "Your normal XP" it becomes "Your normal XP" earn xp "Your under detrimental XP"
The Same Effect happens The math is exactly the same. The terms are just inverted. The major problem that came from Fatigue was eventually it would hit 5% or lower which was too severe. But as I said, its going away so its no longer an issue.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
That's an oversimplification. The surplus/fatigue system in FFXIV is nothing like the "rested" XP system in those other MMO's that have it.
In no other game does grinding eventually reduce your experience earned to zero. Yes, it only happens to those few crazy enough to do it (or cheat their way to it), but it is still there.
Fatigue is not "rested SP becoming normal SP". It is "Normal SP becoming penalized SP, with the penalty increasing over time". This goes beyond semantics.
If it truly was Rested XP, they would have called it that.
You are absolutely correct about nomenclature. SE needs to bring some brand recognition to the game. Most people still call Lalafell Tarus, Miqo'te Mithra, and Roegadyn Galkas.
If shortened names are what you're looking for, call 'em Lalas, Miqos, and Roegs.

I actually think it could have been a good idea provided that they eliminated it from only physical levels. The idea that you have to rest in order to learn anything new is extremely realistic. (That's why you don't cram for tests.) If physical levels are exempt, then it simply encourages you to try out a variety of classes, and as long as it resets as often as guildleves then you can simply focus on one or two battlecraft classes and one or two fieldcraft classes and still enjoy quite a bit of gameplay without worrying about rested.
