"you can solo to end-game"; is what killed it!

Seeing that the game allowed for largely solo play is one of the main things that attracted me to it.

I like MMOs, I like the freedom, the exploration, the being able to sit down every day after work and know that I could sign on and work towards some new goal. But I'm not a terribly social person, and so often times don't like to do much partying. Why should I have to? I don't pay subscription fees so that I can party with people who feel like spamming chat or bailing at the most inconvenient of moments. I'm paying fees so that I can play a good game.

The main thing that's preventing it from being that good game, is simple. Lack of content and definitive direction. Right now, I don't want to do too much leveling, because I don't know if my lvl 30 conjurer will in two months be a level 30 white mage with completely different attributes or playstyle.

But really, if this game had a huge boost in content (that is to say, more of pretty much everything - quests, items, armor, finished areas, etc) along with a set in stone class and advancement system, it'd be pretty well off.

I don't play FFXIV or any other MMO because I want to solo, I want to interact with everyone else and party. They made this game way to easy, and yes i agree that is whats killing it. They need to make the party system better so people will use it or just bring back the party flag. There is nothing in the game right now to make people want to keep playing, no sense of acheivment. Like in FFXI, how many times did you stay up all night just to finish some quests and get that piece of armor you have been trying to get for 2 years...then to finally get it.

Its not only what I want, but why pay to play a online game to play it by yourself...whats the point? Even though they haven't charged us yet it still doesn't make sense.

If anything "You can solo to the end" ADDED players to this game. Like the example above, some people like MMOs, but dont want to be social. In today's gaming world who could blame them with all the memes and disrespect that is thrown around on a regular basis.

Hes right....when you pay a game, you should be able to play it how you want it(within the realm of the rules).

People have lives and those people can't always wait around for a party full of people to gain a level... I have stated plenty of times that i loved XI but the worst part about it was when i got older and had alot more work to do. I would log onto ffxi knowing i only had about 2-3 hrs which would accomplish not much at all... For FXIV to be TRULY successful and competitive in the MMO market they will have to start by taking peoples live into consideration... If not(i repeat again) change the name into FFXI-2 which its greatest attribute will be the biggest downfall.

It not being *your* personal playstile doesn't mean that it doesn't make sense for others. Many others actually.

And then there are the many (probably the majority), me included, that enjoy alternating solo play with group play at their leisure.
