1st i love the game im staying regardless but i agree with this lots of people will quit and go other places not that it matters lev has too many as it is lolLike this man has said, if this isn't fixed for tomorrow, FF14:ARR's future is going to be a very, very dark future. The press has a lot of power over MMOs because a lot of people decide to buy them or not depending on reviews. And "a completely unplayable early access due to bugs and overloaded servers" isn't a really nice selling point.

For the record, today is the first day and there has already been a 3 and a 2.5 hour maintenance, amongst other problems. That's at least 5.5 hours of the approximately 13 hours that the EA has been available, which is just a little under half. I'm sure it won't be half of the total time, but so far its been close, and it's not hard to imagine there being more emergency maintenance, since y'know.. there's been one problem after another since the start of Phase 4. I get it, it's a release, and this is kinda to be expected, but you people coming on here blasting those of us who aren't happy should get off your high horse, at this point it is something we paid for, and apparently something they weren't prepared for. They should be scrutinized.
[NA] Several Worlds Emergency Maintenance (Aug. 24)
At the following time, we will be performing emergency maintenance. During this period, the Worlds listed below will be unavailable.
As we previously announced on the “Regarding the Instance-Related Issues (Aug. 24)” announcement, we will be conducting maintenance to address the issue wherein players are unable to access instances.
While we previously stated that we will be optimizing the servers prior to the emergency maintenance, we will require additional time to also implement counter measures to decrease the load on the servers.
While we estimate the time frame of the maintenance to be around two and a half hours, we will do our best to complete the maintenance as soon as possible.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

For eastern standard time.. these down times are pretty convenient! Went down at lunch time and then at dinner time. It's like Yoshi P is reminding me to do required daily activities!
In the dualshockers interview yoshiP said that the usa player base was around double japan's and the eu was on the same level as japan. So why is it our combined server total, equals theirs?
Lol at the doomsayers... If anything this is a testament to how insanely popular the game is and that they couldnt have expected so many people to be playing it
Honestly, I thought Early Access population would be lower than Open Beta because only people who pre-ordered the game are allowed to play it, whereas OB was free for everyone... I was wrong, I had no idea so many people had pre-ordered the game already
Plus, I dont know what people are talking about with "half assed broken game time"... I enjoyed most of EA today and guess what I did when I reached a story quest that I couldnt progress through because of an instance? I switched to a crafting/gathering class and started working on those instead
I know, mindblowing! So what if you dont make it to level 30 today or whatever? I bet you will be the first people to complain there is nothing to do in the game because you rushed to the cap instead of enjoying the game to the fullest
Hey, neither is the press telling people to go out and buy/support an MMO simply because of its beta but they do it. This is why gaming was much better before the internet largely - people were able to think for themselves.Like this man has said, if this isn't fixed for tomorrow, FF14:ARR's future is going to be a very, very dark future. The press has a lot of power over MMOs because a lot of people decide to buy them or not depending on reviews. And "a completely unplayable early access due to bugs and overloaded servers" isn't a really nice selling point.
No MMO has a flawless launch, not one textbook MMORPG.
Actually, GW2 was pretty flawless if memory serves. But yes, in general, this is pretty standard, though it is becoming less common for companies that actually invest in network logistics.
Not too sure about you guys, but I've seen games with worse off launches! We've got it good with all things considered.
I think everone needs to chill, go for a nice walk outside while you wait
