Forum posting restrictions

Here is the worst part of it all, people are now less likely to post on this thread in agreement because they don't want to waste said daily posts. Lack of comments/agreement, square claims not enough people mind it, chooses to ignore it, doesn't have to remove said restrictions. Do I smell some sort of conspiracy here? (Absolutely worth my post, and I will be wasting one daily to bump this thread until we get some sort of dev feedback, even if i am the only one doing so.)

Had to actually change my 'main character' since the one I preferred the portrait of hadn't gotten high enough due to my inability to play with 3102 to actually make any posts...

I dislike these restrictions... and even in the beta forums I found myself not wanting to post...


I am also a person who doesn't like to rush... So I'm likely not going to get to 50 for a long while... While I never hit the 20 posts per day limit that was on the beta forums, I'm certainly going to hit the ~3 posts I have right now...

And I believe this topic deserves the use of one of those. It's that important of an issue.

You have made suggestions about posting and character limits, primarily. You haven't followed the forum guidelines which ask for topics to each have their own thread. We would have much more concise feedback if this thread was dedicated to one or the other, not both, and definitely not the broad spectrum of "Forum posting restrictions".

Yes, ask us to put each piece of feedback in a separate thread yet limit the amount of threads/posts we can make...

In a few weeks once everyone is beyond 25 and can post, etc, the restrictions won't seem as severe. True.
However, where are people going to go in those first few weeks for answers/support/community?

I am aware that the tech sup, bug rep, and new player categories do not have post limits, so I've been focusing my attention there for the interim.
Not gonna lie though; the restrictions feel a tad harsh at the moment.

The level 50 restrictions are basically what was there in beta iirc...

I thought they were too much then. :/

Actually even if you post in those sections it counts towards your post count every where else on the forums. I had to wait until today to reply to this thread because i was trying to be helpful in the tech support section yesterday and use up my big wapping 3 replys there.

Now I can understand a daily thread creation limit, intervals between posts, character limits, ect. What I can't understand is the limit to replies.

Come Tuesday everyone using this forums should be paying customers. There should not be any restrictions once everyone is on a subscription (which could be the case, i have no clue)

As it stands now SE will not have a forum community. Sorry even at 50 the restrictions are still to much. With these restrictions you wont be able to much freecompany recruiting on the forums, unlikely to have large discussions on class/job mechanics, ect.

I my self foresee a lot of people using a different forum or just lurking.

It does feel bad for me (and I am level 50) because let's say I post in the meme thread (nothing like a fun thread) then I see a post I feel the need to reply to, ohai there 15 min cooldown, then more pop up and more, when I can post I have to choose between 2, 3 maybe even 4 threads to reply to, however if I go to zam or somewhere similar I can post freely, I can even set up a dev tracker rss feed giving this forum nothing. I have already said I aren't going to post here any more (except this thread for obvious reasons) because I see no point.

Same here! , it just make me all sad these restrictions , sometimes I just want to replay to someone or have some fun in some funny threads but I can't because I get slapped in the face by that annoying restriction.

I agree to a degree.

I think the level restriction is a bit harsh considering there may be people who just started playing that have legitimate questions. While a lot of the normal questions will get covered pretty quickly if a new player cannot ask the questions they may need to I feel it is unfair to them. A limitation on created posts is fine. To have zero is kind of counter productive to what a forum should be used for.

Any Legacy player willing to spend a new thread quota on asking to get the Community Reps a color that stands out much more?

I would actually suggest they reverse the avatar panel background color and post background color, this way the post itself (which has larger area) stands out more. Then put the post background decoration into the avatar background as well, so that the avatar area also stands out.

I'm almost certain these restrictions are just to keep the forums from crashing. There is a LOT going on right now and they need to be able to dedicate all of their server usage to more important things than the forums for now. This is a means to make sure the forums are usable and helpful without allocating too many of their resources into it to allow for everyone to work on fixing the bugs. This way nobody has to fix broken forums.
