They said it would be at least 6 months before you can transfer a legacy character off a legacy server. So by then economies will be established and it won't really make much of a difference.

Except HQ's won't matter as much unless you're twinking. It's not like XI where you instantly "sucked" if your hauby was not a +1 and you instantly became a leper no one would want to party with.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
I look forward to the day I can transfer my main to which I worked very hard to develop over the last 3 years to the server of my Guild's choosing. Until then, I'll just level an alt on that sever and experience the world through fresh overly 可愛い eyes.
Simple. I like my character with his tatoo. I like my Giantsgall Sword. My friends don't want to play on Balmung. I have to abandon my character entirely to play with my friends.
Mind you, I don't have all lv50s (PLD was my only 50 on my legacy character). I'm not exactly rich either. Hell, the most valuable thing I have is my PLD AF gear and the aforementioned sword. If I could transfer off Balmung on to Diabolos I'd do it in a snap.
But that is your fault or the fault of your friends. If you don't want to give up your legacy char and your friends don't want to play on a legacy server you will have to wait 6 months.
You can't have everything in life, bear with it!
I honestly feel that Legacy characters should stay on Legacy servers. Just having the feel of a fresh new server and everyone fighting and leveling together just feels right. This is why I re-rolled a new character, just feels better. Also would be no fun having some level 50's in town while everyone is working hard to leveling up (Which would also in turn create reasons to power level since there are levels 50's that could exploit some way of power leveling lower level players.)
the better solution is the ones that the devs have come up with, 1.0 players get to keep their levels and are segragated from new players and players that want to start over from the beginning, as they is a reboot of the game.
Then at some later time 1.0 characters can move anywhere they wish, when doing so would not give them an advantage over players on new servers.
If a 1.0 player wishes to start on a new world all that is required is that you create a new charcter and start fom lv 1 just like everyone else on that server
It's funny how people think legacy players saved all this gil and items just so that one day they could abandon all thier friends to go rule some noob server. Dead horse is so dead, should probably bury it now
I know it's a pipe dream, but the only thing I want is my Goobbue-mount on my new char. I don't even care about the gil.
What I dislike most about this argument and legacy players is they refuse to accept that people want to play on a new server just for the game to be NEW. Not a single legacy player could tell me truthfully if they had no 1.0 character and was starting new they would choose to play on a legacy server without lying through their teeth. Hell as you can see I am level 50 and I chose to play on a new server because for 1.0 players that did not play after the patches ARR is a totally new game.
6 months down the road SE does not need to let legacy players xfer to new servers they just need to remove the tags from the servers altogether. But new players and 1.0 players on new server deserve at least 6 months of a NEW game to themselves before throwing 1.0 players into the mix. And yes even for new servers xfers need an item/gil limit because 1.0 was just full of bots and ARR will be too if SE lets them run rampant like they did in both FFXI and 1.0. Has nothing to do with legacy players or any kind of hate people have for them it just isn't a new game when people are already 50 on your server getting crap done first is what motivates a lot of people to play a new MMO. Gives us a chance to establish guilds and get in on the ground floor because if you have played a MMO much at all you know you are never treated quite the same in a guild unless you are a founding member no matter how well you play.
And 1 million gil? More like 1 billion this character has a million gil and I only played 1.0 for a little over a month when it was actually hard to make money and level. And again do not forget about the bots they have enough money to manipulate the economy on a legacy server much less on a new one.

What about making 3 new legacy servers, and allowing legacy players the ability to transfer to those "New" Legacy servers, then open it up for new char.creation after a few days. this would allow legacy players the ability to play on a brand new server, and not on a server where new players are wanting to make sure everyone starts new? just a thought..
Drive it like u stole it
