Can someone actually explain how a player with 1 million gil and a bunch of 50's would overturn an economy?
By being the first to craft the highest-level equipment, gather all the high level materials, and farm all the sellable high-level drops?
All selling at the maximum price people are able to pay because he has an absolute monopoly, perhaps?

So let's work this out logically. A char with every job at 50 jumps over and starts harvesting and crafting level 50 gear/weapons/consumables, that is the worry? So, who is going to buy all this level 50 gear/weapons/consumables? There will be no level 50's around to buy it. There will also be a lack of gil in the economy to pay over-inflated prices. Give it two weeks (if that) and there will be level 50 crafters on non-Legacy servers, there will be people with millions of gil, the only advantage a Legacy player really has is that they can start doing end game content, farming up items that they can really only sell to other legacy players (at least for 2 weeks).

    THANK YOU!

Why is everyone so terrified of legacy players? If I came to your server, I'd just join your LS and craft you guys stuff for free

Pretty much! But... you're also forgetting that creates a big tempting market for gil sellers - all that gear instantly at 50 is probably too tempting for some people that might have access to their parent's CC. Leeching from PLing/rmt levelling groups - while inefficient will PROBABLY get you to 50.

And of course given the level of vitriol directed at legacy players, I might also mention jealousy because they couldn't be the one first to that 50 :P

New Servers are for New Chars only why is it so difficult to understand that. Yoshi has stated that many times since they announced that....

Exactly. It is not even up for debate, Yoshi and the dev team recognize the importance of maintaining New Server with New characters; players didn't even have to ask for it.

    My solution

We have three types of servers:

Legacy - as they are now

Regular servers - same as now, but legacy people can transfer over to play with their friends at launch

And a new server for new people who HAVE to be the first to do anything called ... "Fat Chocobo"

I thought it was stated that server transfers would be available 2 weeks after launch, or does that only apply to non-legacy characters?

(I play a legacy character, but I have no plans to transfer servers, I just thought I heard different/am curious)

    To OP:

There's no need to bind gear since gear one would like to sell on a new server would be worthless since they're the only ones who'd have any access to 'big boy' content. In fact, later content would be considered 'wasted' on non legacy servers since it'll be untouched for a good 2 months minimum.

I can only think of two reasons...

    1) Become top dog on a fresh world
    2) Leave behind your ruined reputation

Neither of which is appealing to those who are on the fresh world. Transferring between Legacy should be fine or onto Legacy, so friends can meet up. If you're all fresh starters, you should just reroll, its the quicker option.
