Thanks for the replies, but I guess what I meant is: Let's say they release Dark Knight or Blue Mage or something as job specializations "within" certain armory classes. I'm leveling Lancer now because I find every other class completely boring. But the likelihood of Lancer getting a Dark Knight or Blue Mage class is probably slim to none. So I feel like I'm leveling the wrong class for FUTURE patches in regards to a possible job system.

    Get what I mean?

I know it's all speculation till we hear about the system but yeah, still has be stressed for some reason

I'm doing the same thing except I want to be either a dragoon or a black mage. I've pretty much quit for the moment because I don't want to waste my time leveling the wrong class. That's why I wish Yoshi would give us a summary of how the new job system would work, sooner the better!

Not to state the obvious, but have you tried dabbling in thaumaturge, most jobs have the benefit of that even if you don't care to main the job, you can still adopt skills into the jobs that you do like. So its not a total waste.

I know but I think they are going to do away with the ability to have every job as your subjob so I'm not going to bother with leveling anything until we get some more info.

They are not making any major changes to the armoury system they already said that.

The Job system is just another system that helps you differenciate yourself from other players and their Weapon Class.

IE A Gladiator can be a Thief, Paladin, Dragoon, Warrior, Red Mage, etc.

Or a Thief can be a Gladiator, Pugilist, Lancer, Marauder etc.

It will be similar to a Job/Subjob system from XI except instead its a Job/Weaponclass system where your Job dictates your Role your weapon dictates how you perform it.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Umm... well the only thing they've said is that they won't reset your levels IIRC but the system you are suggesting is not even close to what Yoshi-P said he was going to do in that. He said they were going to do a specialization system or make them advanced jobs.

If im a black mage I only want to be able to cast black magic, no more do I want to hear you can heal because you are a conjurer.

So what I would like to see is something like:-

CON - White Mage = Can only cast party buffs and healing magic
CON - Black Mage = Can only cast Destructive and DOT magic.

THM - Red Mage = Can only cast Healing and enfeebling magic
THM - Star Mage = Can only Cast Astral/Umbral Destruction and DOT magic.
This sounds more like what they will do.

Sorry, Everything after the first line is speculation. The first line though was said multiple times by both Yoshida, Komoto and Tanaka.
