Just to be clear, this is NOT a Legacy issue. I, and many others, are getting this same error without ever having played 1.0. I was in Beta 3 and 4. I have pre-ordered through the Playstation Store. My Services menu clearly shows Early Access AND purchase of the full game. Yet, I have "no valid or active service account." To my understanding, other PS3 users have already been able to download the early access client update.

    player asked:
Let's say I bought the old game, and never received Legacy status. If I want to get early access on the PC, all I have to do is pre-order a copy of the new version right? If I buy the PS3 version instead, does that mean I have to play on PS3 during the early access period?

    MOD hvinire responded:

As long as you pre-order, the PS3 version can be linked to your pre-existing FFXIV account to play early on the PC version.

This will also allow you to play on either the PS3 or PC with the same service account. However, you won't be able to log in with both at the same time. As long as this isn't a problem, you should be fine purchasing the PS3 version.

THIS IS WHY I BOUGHT PS3 EA FOR MY PC 1.0 to play EA on pc.

    MAKE IT HAPPEN SE

Of course I can't verify this now that the beta forums are down, but some of you were also mentioning this post.

I went with the PS3 version having the expectation that I'd be able to use EA on both platforms. I guess if I'm limited to the PS3 for a few days, it is what it is. That stinks though, cause I was hoping to use both!

Logging into the Same Account on both Windows and PlayStation 3

It is possible to play with the same account on both Windows and PlayStation 3 platforms. Customers who own a copy of FFXIV for Windows and wish to use their account on the PlayStation 3 version will need to purchase a copy of the PlayStation 3 version. It will then be possible to use your characters on either platform by tying your existing service account to the PlayStation 3 version upon launching it for the first time. Similarly, customers who own a copy of FFXIV for PlayStation 3 and wish to use their account on the Windows version will need to purchase a copy of the Windows version. However, please note that your account will only be able to log into one platform at a time.

    * * * * *

Okay let's break it down here:

Do you own a copy of the Windows version of Final Fantasy XIV... as in You have it in your hands, you paid for it, you registered it to your SE account, it's yours? If you just Downloaded P4 client from the website you do not OWN a copy of XIV, Windows or PS3. You do not have a valid Service account for Early Access on that platform.

Okay now let's say yes, you have ordered a copy of the game and you've registered that copy (PS3 or Windows) and you want to play on your other platform (the one where you also OWN a copy of the game. so you own two copies of the game.). When you launch the game for the first time on the platform where you own the game, not when you sign in, and get a greyed out button, that's not launching. When you LAUNCH the game, you will be prompted to link the account that you launched to your other platform account that you must also OWN.

1.0 folks: If you are not legacy, you do not qualify for Early Access on the PC until you link your account. Which means you don't have a valid service account on your PC until you launch PS3 for the first time.

If you own a Preordered copy of FFXIV for PS3, you will not be able to play on Early access on the PC until you also purchase a copy of the game on PC (Physical or downloaded) Why? Because the client you got downloaded from P4 on your PC is not owned by you and it's not registered on the Square Enix Account Management system.

I THINK I have this right.

The point that most people are making is that, this isn't occuring even after we link the accounts. I've launched the PS3 version, gone through the whole linking process, watched as the mog cap and cait sith minion was manually added to my 1.0 service account that included the Windows version, the windows beta, and the PS3 beta, and yet I still can only log into the Ps3 version and not the PC version. Using the same credentials for each version, I get a completely different message(wait until EA or no active service account).

Was the Linking through the Account Management system? Or did you have to go through PSN?

Through the PSN. Linked from there to my 1.0 service account.

Oh okay... I'm wondering if this is because your 1.0 account is not an ARR account. It's rather arbitrary and shouldn't matter. But when I go to my Account management system it tells me that I cannot register any codes at all. I'm Legacy and when I put in my bonus code for the items I didn't do it through the account management system, I did it through another site.

It may be that when you try to log into your PC, the Client is checking for your registration on that OTHER site, not the account management system. If you don't have anything for the PC on that OTHER site then it wouldn't show you as having a valid PC account.

At any rate, an official statement clearing all this up is greatly needed.

I understand your panic. I would be wigging completely out if I were you.

I THINK I have this right.
I purchased a copy and registered and played Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 CE. I am not Legacy. I purchased the PS3 CE and I have redeemed the pre-order code and launched the PS3 launcher and linked my account (I think). When I launch PC version of the P4 client, I get the No Service Account message. When I launch the PS3 version, I am able to update the game.

I was under the impression that once I redeemed my PS3 code, it would be tied to my account and not a specific platform. Again, this is all speculation on my part based mostly on that post, but a guy can hope, right?
