I pre-ordered from PSN also but have erased both phase 3 and 4 clients cause I wish to start completely over.
I still haven't received codes or whatever and PSN would have to do maintenance now

This was a quote that I had saved from the beta forums when I was curious about this previously:
Of course I can't verify this now that the beta forums are down, but some of you were also mentioning this post.Let's say I bought the old game, and never received Legacy status. If I want to get early access on the PC, all I have to do is pre-order a copy of the new version right? If I buy the PS3 version instead, does that mean I have to play on PS3 during the early access period?
As long as you pre-order, the PS3 version can be linked to your pre-existing FFXIV account to play early on the PC version.
This will also allow you to play on either the PS3 or PC with the same service account. However, you won't be able to log in with both at the same time. As long as this isn't a problem, you should be fine purchasing the PS3 version.
I went with the PS3 version having the expectation that I'd be able to use EA on both platforms. I guess if I'm limited to the PS3 for a few days, it is what it is. That stinks though, cause I was hoping to use both!
I and probably EVERY 1.0 person was under the same impression. This was a quote that I had saved from the beta forums when I was curious about this previously:

that ps3 EA codes for 1.0 would work on PC.

That is the quote. I can attest to using that to answer many questions while it was still around. This was a quote that I had saved from the beta forums when I was curious about this previously:

I'm waiting for some kind of SE response to this to know if I should cancel my preorder or not. If it is true then I feel kinda deceived and it will leave a bad taste in my mouth towards them.
same issue and same thought process i used when making my purchase i will want a refund if i can not play EA on the pc AND ps3 this weekend i only bought it for the EA and will probably hardly play it on ps3

Found the exact quote in the Version 1.0 forum archive.
