    Death should have a decent punishment, yes, but XP penalty is too much.

    Death should take away 1 anima, along with the durability loss and Weakness status. Also, "return" should cost 0 anima. That way the devs solve the problem of ppl deathporting everywhere.

    (and if you have 0 anima when you die, return costs 0 anima, of course)

    By all means im not trying to hate but that system is old and should be wiped from any MMO made nowadays. There can be alternative penalties than to give idiots a tool to create massive uproar. Nothing i hated more is when partying with someone and he/she setting me back(on purpose or not listening)...

    Theres no fear in dying anyways. damaged gear/losing xp, both are stupid ideas that most ppl just ignore. For crying aloud ppl still do blood warps. Having to warp back to an aetheryte, dealing with rez sickness and makign the long walk back to wherever you were is penalty enough in this grind fest game.

    its actually not really a 'grind fest'... more of a 'zerg fest' in which there is NO party communication or roles. And Dingleberry is right. Walking is not really a penalty since you walking back pretty much equals out the timer for weakness

    Wow, I gotta hand it to Tanaka. People really do want a game handed to them on a silver platter. No challenge, no incentive to do well. From the responses I'm seeing in this thread, Tanaka would have done well to just make everyone invincible, and start at level 50 and have all quests completed.
    i agree, man! FFXI did everything right while this game did everything wrong! the majority of players want a dangerous world to live in and explore. the least they can do for us (after they fix the battle system and game) is to create servers with xp loss death penalty.

    the death penalty alone would transform the game and the world into an adventure. the children can have the option of their invincible characters while the hardcore mmo fans would also enjoy their "classic rule sets" servers. right now, without xp loss, all we have is a steralized mmo that no one plays.

    Might not want to say stuff like that. I agree with you, I don't care to lose exp, and it never stopped me from dying in XI. But forum people get really whiny when they think you're putting words in their mouth or trying to speak up for them.

    EXP Loss was a completely retarded concept in FFXI. Leveling DOWN was an even more retarded concept. We don't need to ever see a return of this.. The fact we suffer weakness upon death is enough of a penalty\annoyance as it is already.
