Also let me explain to those why in server only group finder wouldn't work at the moment.

    1) There is only a handful of populate servers, some servers are pretty barren.
    2) Why not merge the server? I made this argument myself and someone answered in a sense that made perfect sense. Merging of the servers is usually a sign of dying game and they do not want to give that image at all. They are trying to make changes to bring players back into the game and not drive people away by saying we are dying so we have to merge servers because most of our servers are complete ghost towns.

That's the same as admitting defeat and that is not an option for SE at this time. So they are looking at ways for players who are on ghost town servers to be able to atleast queue up for a dungeon and play with the other players at any given time. Also the Japanese aren't complaining, mostly because they are more casual players, but even I am a hardcore player and I an 100% for the system. The cross server system will only apply to dungeons and you know better than anyone else that dungeons will not be the only end game content (down the road) for players to do. They will have dungeon content and other forms of content for us to play within a years time that isn't not affected by cross realm dungeons in the least.

If by both sides you mean two poorly named threads containing the EXACT same range of opinions and responses, in addition to being created a mere 20 minutes apart...

Not to mention server merges would cause problems come PS3 launch. Say we merge, PS3 launch comes and now we need more servers. We open up more (which now takes more time and resources) and they end up super low population. After 3 months the population stabilizes and we need to merge again.

All this could be solved by simply waiting until about 3 months after PS3 launch to consider merges and transfers.

I do. They both represent a side of the argument to start from.

It's not even that. Simply enough, no developer starts merging servers (which is a quite development-intensive option) before they fired all their shot and saw that they have no hope of overturning population trends. SE has a quite big shot to fire yet (the PS3 release), so it's obviously not a good idea to dedicate resources to merging the servers in a game that's, in any case, designed to make the most of it's population by making it gather around HUBs.

Fine. We get it. Move on.

Personally I dont game 8 hours a day some days I dont even game, BUT when I do I appreciate a true, challenging and most of all "immersive" game world worth exploring, which FF games always have been about until the latest installment, FFXIII.
FF games have never been about having casual, mass appeal and being lazy. This is a tradition worth saving.

A cross-server-instant-transportation-dungeon function will, for me, be like a wrecking ball to all the things I hold dear about the FF franchise.
Here's hoping they don't do it and they never intented on given the forum community the idea of it.
