Hey there, I am not a fan of Curse. Normal people join companies like TGN, Machinima and Curse to protect their youtube channel. Accusing them of promoting evil and hatred is miss-placed. Curse do deserve some hate but at the end of the day they shut down a dead website. Why did it die? The creation of this official forum killed Core back in March 2011.

P.S. Just want to point out GBTV is not affiliated with Curse it was one of the guest hosts.

A lot of fan sites slowed down after the official forums got up to speed mid-2011. Some are still very slow or dormant to this day. But Core really started picking back up around End of v1 timeframe, and was getting many new members and returnees as interest in ARR alpha and beta grew. What Curse killed was far from dead. It was growing.

I did say they shut down a website, and they also displaced a fan community while they were at it. This wasn't in 2011, but in May of 2013. News predicting 2.0 release were already underway. The actual date came 3 days later.

I'm just stating the facts from blogs that covered this. They are 2 organizations that decided to burn their bridges with their intended audience for this show. So..."Best of luck to them"?

Arkham is correct. Core was starting to get a lot more interest with the new information being released about ARR. There was a lot of things going on in the background for the Core that only those involved are privy to that knowledge.

The official forums did take a lot of traffic from smaller websites, but the Core was far from dead and Curse refused to put any resources into the website, even when several new members were starting to register and visit the site frequently.

Anyway, sorry to detract from the OP. I read Deli's post and it's a bit discouraging that they don't have their facts straight regarding FF14 accounts. If you don't positively know how things work then you shouldn't discuss them. It only hurts your credibility and it's not a good way to get off the ground.
