Gifthorse it seems like you just got to r50 and dont ever wanna work again on your character. you just want things handed to you through changes to the game. is this close to being correct?

and that mob will be considered mid level by then not high end. those nm's now will no longer be saught after so the casuals that wanted access can have all they want and the higher level people will be moved onto other higher level things.
follow logic since that seems to be missing.
if a mob was already easy then it did not need to be nerfed at this rank.
lvl 99 mobs at this point you have no shot at even damaging. increasing the cap will allow people to fight those.
if the cap was raised to 99 nobody would care about the nm's that are in the game now and move towards harder mobs.
using your logic if a rat is easy at r1 why should you level to r50.....oh that's right to get more content and tougher mobs.

Lol, I was first on my server with Silver Tricorne and Dodore Doublet.
It's not that I don't want to level, it's that it shouldn't be a chore.
whoa be polite Gift, its true there is a big crowd that does like seeing numbers increase.
Personally I think endgame leveling trees provide more character individuality and that level cap raises are a real kick in the teeth when you have multiple classes.
but i can..see..the.....um....
ok no I'm sorry, besides watching an arbitrary number go up I cannot see the value of raising the level cap unless you initially set it too low for your game.
new content, new armor, new abilities, new systems all can be done at a level cap. Instances and encounters can be made increasingly hard without having to rebalance everything prior and smooth out the leveling curve (isnt this what a lot of xi players complained about? Their hard grind was replaced with an easy trip to level 80). Just because games have done it before doesnt necessarily mean it needs to be done, and every time you DO do it you run the risk of messing up the balance of the ENTIRE game.
From a purely business standpoint its spectacular because you can package all of this in a new 50 dollar box, but for the player its kind of eh.
You don't need to raise cap to increase content.and that mob will be considered mid level by then not high end. those nm's now will no longer be saught after so the casuals that wanted access can have all they want and the higher level people will be moved onto other higher level things.

you are right leveling shouldnt be a chore. but many people do wanna level again at somepoint on that job.
Like i said before, if they are raising the cap to 99, they better do it relatively fast (PS3 release). The message it sends to new users should be positive as well.
Part of me also won't like having to level other classes that high just to use certain abilities (unless leveling is paced at the same rate as it is now, or faster).
It's rather hard to decide at this point with the new "Job System" and other radical changes coming.
Edit: I think people also just want to be able to say "Ding" lol
lol no the points is that we will not be stuck at 50 forever.
Obvious reason is that SE do not want us to be all level 99 before all the PS3 players gets their hands on the game. (if ever)
My 2nd point, there's no reason for FFXIV to be worse than FFXI by staying at 50 forever.
The intention was to increase the cap sooner or later thats already a fact from the current dat file information.
How more obvious could it be?
I have no rush to reach level 99 (or w/e), idk about everyone else thou.
3rd point at the current max rank... there isnt enogh Slots / points to put in abilitys / Spells....
Im having trouble as it is to decide wich spells i need for what type of battle, its gets annoying
sometimes having to set new spells etc a minute later.
So at this point...i really would hate to have even more spells and abilities.
Last point... Maximum party size.
As it is right now, mobs in coerthas / Mordhona can still do massive damage to a full
party because of the level cap. (well now we have the l33t noob bonus to help us out)
Now should they nerf the mobs or let us progress normally when level cap is removed or raised?
Obviously the areas we have now, are not all they have planned for us, and hell....
um ya...i dont want to be gimp r50 going up against a Behemoth some day.

I'm pretty sure - and you can quote me wildly on this - that most people want to play a game and have fun. They want to do quests, forge friendships, adventure, create things, explore. But the one thing that they don't want to do is level just for the sake of levelling.
If there is one thing the MMO genre has taught us, it's that the MMO audience, by and large, dislikes to grind. If they want to better themselves, they want to do so testing themselves in combat against increasingly more powerful foes, or see new thigns, or do new things. They don't just want to stand around doing the same thing, and watching their numbers get bigger.
and you don't have to keep cap at 50, which is done easily in a few weeks, if you want the game to be a long term success.
this is not a rpg they expect you to play a few weeks and do everything in the game and move to another. they expect you to pay monthly fees and get you for the long haul. to keep people for the long haul things have to be altered to allow for more new stuff since everyone has the old stuff. even new mobs if they have everyone at 50 everyone is fighting over the new gear that comes out so you get stuck in the same i wait for 8 hours and never fight so and so mob.
cap increases must be done periodically just to allow a part of the base to move away from the cluster in the middle. am i saying i want it to jump from 50-99 at one time? no, i am saying even it if is 10 levels every 6 months to allow a little spread in the groups is fine. it could even be less as far as i am concerned. let them figure when the majority of the base is in the next range then make a decision.
