All in all, I'd say this thread went pretty well. People might have been pretty negative, but at least they were thorough in their explanations, and the OP has come to understand the full situation.

Ouchmaker, you seem like a reasonable person. I hope you stick with the game, even though you didn't make Legacy. The player base needs more people like you.

Edit: On a side note, does anyone else think the SE support guy is trolling us by suggesting a person make ANOTHER Legacy thread? I mean, seriously.

The only reason there's really a problem with there being "another thread" is because there are people who can't simply read the title, or begin reading the OP, realize the thread doesn't interest them, back out and go find a thread they do want to read.

No. They have to demonstrate their "lack of interest" in the topic, by responding to it with a post expressing just how angry they are that the post was created... even though they could have just ignored it and moved on.

People like to put on this facade of "being tired of these posts being created", but I don't really buy that. I think they love when these posts are created. 'cause then they get to lash out at people and feel justified for it. Must make them feel all empowered or something.

If you see a thread you're not interested in, or that you're tired of seeing, and you proceed to not only read it, but take the time to respond to it... you lose all right to yell at the OP for creating it. They didn't force you to waste your time on it. You chose to do so.

But of course, we live in a world where people have zero personal accountability, and blame everyone else for their poor decisions. The MMO genre's filled with them.

So.. par for the course, I guess.

I don't include the people who try to calmly and reasonably explain the situation. They're not lashing out. They're trying to clear things up, without ripping the person's head off.

That said, this thread has actually been far more civil than its Beta forum counterparts. The folks in there are some of the angriest people I've ever seen.

I'm not gonna attack you on this, I'm just curious if you continued to play from January 6, 2012 (start of subscription iirc), and how long you played for. If you did start up again on August 11, 2012, but played from January 2012 to the end of February 2012, you should have enough days for legacy. If that isn't the case however, you did not reach the 90 days requirement, which is a shame since it's obvious you actually do like this game and were ones of the early hopefuls who stuck around after the launch (just not long enough during the billing period).

Actually, it depends on when you leveled up those crafts. The OP obviously leveled it up prior to the billing period, at which time it was massively time consuming to level a crafting job. As someone who did crafting religiously from launch, I can tell you that it took at least 3 times longer to level a craft back then. I remembered when 300 exp from a synth was considered good exp; in the latest updates of FFXIV 1.0, I was able to score up to around 3,000 exp per synth.

It took me over 3 months of crafting and gathering to hit my first 50 craft job, while a friend of mine was hitting a new 50 craft every other week during the last few months of 1.0.

I'm a 1.0 player that isn't Legacy and I don't care that I'm not. I don't care that other people are, and people need to get over it. Plain and simple.

I would like to thank everyone for their feedback (even the negative). I did numerous searches about Legacy and honestly the results returned really didn't show me much.

I do apologize to those that are sick of the "crying" but like I said I really didn't see similar posts without digging through the forums one thread at a time.

I made calls and followed protocol to get answers and someone suggested I reach out to the community.

Sorry for pissing off whoever is actually angry. I understand now from some of the knowledgeable responses what Legacy was actually intended for and I guess I can do without the little benefits Legacy gives you.

Sorry you missed out on Legacy, but at least you will still have your character with your crafting! I played from Alpha of 1.0 as well, and have two crafters at 50, I know what a pain it is. Best of luck in ARR.

Seriously I got at least a dozen emails telling me about the Legacy Campaign before it even began. The terms in each of these emails were made crystal clear. There is no excuse after the fact for saying "I didn't understand" or "I didn't get good notification". If you had a XIV account registered you got tons of emails as well. Saying otherwise is a bald faced lie.

You were either 1) too cheap to be bothered to spend $30 2) Didn't like 1.0 enough to be bothered to sub 3) Too short sighted to understand what Legacy was really about or 4) Had really bad reading comprehension and perhaps genuinely didn't understand the dozen+ emails you received.

Either way too bad, so sad, I'm sorry. You didn't fulfill the obligation that was requested of you and there is no way for you to do so now. These threads seriously need to stop. You're not missing out on much anyway. And if it was such a big deal for you to have gotten this status you should have completed the obligatory steps to do so when they were laid out clearly for you.

You failed. Deal with it.

Having said all of that I hope you still come and join everyone for the fun that ARR looks like it is going to be. I don't mean to be too harsh in the previous statements it is simply there have been lots of these posts all over the place and they all come down to the same thing. You didn't pay enough attention or didn't think it was worth it at the time and missed out and now you have buyer's remorse (or non buyer's remorse? idk how that would work in this case :P). I get it. It stinks you can't get stuff you think you should because you played the original, but you didn't fulfill the obligations of the system they set up and you missed out. Honestly it's not that much great stuff it's just nice little "thank you" type things anyway. And again I genuinely hope you enjoy ARR even without the Legacy stuff because it seems to be shaping up to be a very fun title.

I glad to be apart of most of the FFXIV Community. Most ppl seem nice and can give a firm but nice respons to things, while others shouldn't even bother Reading or comment. I'm sorry you didn't get Legacy mate! There are no reasons for anyone to be rude towards the OP. If you think there has been to many posts about this, then DON'T READ IT. I and several others have them all or nearly all at 50. Does that make us olympians?

That being said I can't care either way, it doesn't bother me in the slightest wether someone else gets Legacy or not.

Legacy was such a bad idea.. People need to stop feeling so special now

I don't feel special in the slightest, I'm not sure why people think it's special to have paid for and played a game for 3 months in a row.
