Feel like you deserve Legacy? Help me help us.

I would like to preface this with the understanding that I didn't fulfill the outlined requirements to be a Legacy Member. I discovered the reasons why after opening a ticket and speaking to Square Enix through chat support and on the phone.

I would like to reach out to the community to help those of us that believe they deserve Legacy. Let me plead my case as to why I feel like more players deserve Legacy status. The gentleman on the phone is the one that suggested I make this post to be heard. That this is the only way that Square Enix MIGHT re-evaluate who deserves Legacy.

I have been with FFXIV since beta of the original release, bought the collectors' addition and paid months and months on a subscription for a sub-par game. I wanted this game to work so badly I even have a level 49 crafter (anyone that has crafted knows this is quite a feat). I took a break from the game because I was tired of working around everything that needed to be fixed (and clearly they needed to be because of the huge "apocalypse" that happened to start the game from scratch). Even then, after I took a break from the game a friend of mine started playing again and told me about some improvements that had been made (like the ability to search the market wards without having to go into them). I started again on Aug.11th, 2012 which made it 92 days subscribed as of the end of the original release (only including the time I started playing again). After the phone call to Square Enix I found out that because I only PAID for 60 days (from the start of 2012, not accounting for the months I had paid for for a sub-par game) I didn't qualify.

I call to the many players that are in the same or similar circumstance to not sit quietly by and let this injustice stand. Let them hear you.

I'm not sure which one you're trying to explain. Unless you paid between January and September of 2012 (which was the only time you could pay a subscription), you didn't pay for 3 months. If you actually did pay for 3 months, then that's an error on their part. If you only played during the waived sub, and came back in August to only end up paying for 2 months, you're out of luck. That's unfortunate.

So you played a game for free for over a year, then quit 2 months into the billing cycle and now want legacy? ><

We all got the email telling us how to qualify for legacy.
Legacy is there for those that paid for the 90 days between Jan 2012 and iirc it was sept 2012 - those were the only requirements. From the sounds of it you also had a free 30 days tacked in on there which while it sucks, everything was outlined in many emails, on the lodestone etc ><

No one 'deserves; anything more than they have already gotten, I'm sorry if this post reads harsh, it's totally not my intention.

This is not injustice, this is just a simple case of 'you didn't qualify'. SE wont' turn around and say "Oh hey yeah sure... let's just give legacy out." because then they'd end up having to give everyone legacy. There's always someone who will have missed the boat and sadly this time it was you. ><

You mean month... and month. 2 months, when 3 was in the promotion. And you had 7 of the 9 months to decide whether or not to opt in to the promotion. For those 7 months you were not "with" FFXIV, as you put it, you effectively gave up on the game during the time when they were making large improvements and asking (in numerous advertisements and emails, mind you) for some support during this time. You made a conscious effort to opt-out of the promotion, but now that you have seem what the game is becoming, suddenly you think you deserve compensation.

You, in fact, do not.

Hey, at least you get to bring your lv. 49 crafter forward into ARR. That's a pretty decent bonus for launch-time.

It wasn't tricky or hard - the terms were clear. You just had to want to play. I really wanted to play. I was hooked. So I paid.
