Idea For Legacy Characters to Move to Non-Legacy Servers

what ???... don't play yourself. anyone with all dol/doh maxed out can easily control the game right from the start due to the fact that none of the new players can just full off a ffxi and mine/log high lvl areas. any new player that wants to join a legacy server is joining due to friends, a duo account, or they are just wanna complain saying how broken and unfair the game is

they did not isolate anyone they just made new worlds for new players to be in a world without a build economy. New players can join legacy worlds if they like some people just don't want to be around a build economy.

Let me tell you our economy going to be shit. People going to sell stuff in 1.0 price and not cut 1/10 for weeks. At least anyone i know going to have 10-30+mil. So it's a good thing they did this

I would venture to guess that majority of players who never played 1.0, are going to want to start on fresh servers (a lot of my friends who never played feel this way). I want to play with these friends but I also don't want to completely give up my 1.0 character.

SE should allow a legacy player to switch to a non-legacy server and lose all of its class/job levels, all of it's gil, majority of its items, etc. However, the catch would be that this player maintains all of its unique items (goobue, dalamud horn, deity ring, raven's earrings), maintains the journal of all previous quests and missions that were completed and for story-line purposes is considered a survivor of meteor. If SE was compelled to, they could remove the stats from the dalamud horn, deity ring and raven's earrings and there would be absolutely nothing throwing off the balance between a 1.0 player a a new player.

I think there are many 1.0 players who are reluctant to start fresh because they don't want to lose these certain traits that make their characters unique. Let us keep these traits if we switch servers. Possibly let us keep our GC rank as well.

Its called "new character creation". You can do that on any server while still Legacy.

And yes, you will still have access to your special chocobo.

I'll be paying for my three bestest friends' accounts next year when I'm in the military, and they'll be playing on my server anyway. If we want to switch servers then I'll pay the fees for that too. No biggie.

They'll add server transfers if enough people ask for it. Yoshi-P knows how to listen to his audience - this won't magically stop come ARR's launch.

And server transfers won't cause an imbalance to the economy as long as the economy isn't broken in the first place. A good economy can handle more people. It doesn't matter if it's a rich combat-oriented player who has enough gold to start his own business and level his crafting - or a legacy player transferring from another server.

hmm am i unterstanding here somehing wrong about the transfer post? but who said that a 1.X character isn`t able to move to a new server at all? Is this just some speculation or did i overlooked something?

It is looking like only "legacy" servers can be transferred to, at least initially. The other servers will be for new characters only (again, at least initially). We might be able to transfer to them later but not at day 1.

I think its kinda crappy that even though i am going to pay for this game that i cant put my 1.0 character where ever i want to. Just seems like as small as a request it is and as easy as it is to do why not just let us.

Because it would allow the people who do to corrupt the economy before it had even been established.

They may later once that is done, but until then, it is one of the worst things they could possibly do on the new servers.

If you want your legacy mount, your garlond goggles etc. you can still create your character again on those servers. At level 1, like everyone else of course, for fairness.

Isn't it a shame that people that level dol/doh first on your server will control the game from the very beginning until other people hit 50 on DoH/DoL? I'm really confused how people seem to think that 'New servers' will somehow be immune from overly inflated goods, as if there won't be those guys who rush their craft to 50 and control the market until a bunch of other people hit 50. Supply and Demand. On a Legacy Server there won't be just a handful of suppliers.

And in less than 2 weeks, there will be new 'King Midas's' doing the same thing on the new servers. Don't delude yourselves into thinking the new economies are going to be 'better'. They will be more predatory, and more costly. But really, I'm done explaining that. There are multiple threads on the issue.


To the OP: If you are fine with all your rare/ex 1.0 stuff having no stat bearing anyway, just suck it up and re-roll on a new server. Having a Goobue won't make or break the game. But in reality, your friends are better off, rolling on a Legacy Server with your 1.0 character.
1. That character can give them each a small bankroll
2. That character can probably do a simple craft or 2 for them
3. You might even be able to help them level a DOH buy supplying them with mats from your DOL.
4. More than likely, you are a member of a LS or 4 that they can join to find others to level with and to gain help from...also, since you imply that you beat Nael Hardmode, sounds like when they are ready, you have an Endgame group they can run with.
5. Lastly...they are joining YOU not the other way around. They should come to you. In any other game...heck even in this one 6 months down the road, you wouldn't give up all your progress to join a friend on a different server...just because the] New Servers are currently 'fresh' changes nothing. Your friends want to group with you...they should join you.

This part is important to note. What I would like to know is if we can save our server transfer for when this option becomes avialable.
