It was to my understanding that even current service account holders would get another 30 days free after launch. Could have swore Yoshida said that, but either way it doesn't matter to me. $12.99 isn't going to break my bank.

See a LOT of people thought this. I'm not quite sure how so many people myself included came to expect 30 days free but there it is.

That's a good point. When people expect something, not fulfilling that something is risky business, no matter if that something is sanctioned truth or a mith born from vague communication that has been allowed to go rampant for a long while with no correction.Where the hell did it come from? Because I swear I saw it on the forums, and I've seen it repeated many times over and NO ONE on the community team corrected us???
A bit of an oversight and largely redistributed myth that's gone unchecked for over a year isn't really a good thing.
Now, people are still getting two weeks, so that's not an immense deal. Time will tell if those will be enough for most or not.
One thing is for sure. The more perks Square Enix gives in the attempt to pull people back into the game, the more effective that effort will be, so we should encouraging that attitude, instead of trying to encourage them to give as little as possible like some do (for some mysterious reason that I'll never get).

So many things I could disprove here, if NDA didn't stop me... It really is too bad you cannot see for yourself via beta access, or you would have never bothered making this thread.
Hvinire, you know exactly what I am talking about. Please settle this mess.
Edit: On second thought... Abriael will have access to beta in ten days, we can all correct him then.

CAKE!!!
CAAAKE!!!
CAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!!!!
Can we please get off of this topic and get back to talking about cake!!!!
You make *way* too many assumptions mate.
Considering that I have one of the most extensive previews of the beta (which I wrote) available on the net right in my signature, your assumptions are rather ludicrous, mind you.
And by the way, if you're implying that different information is being given on the beta forums, that would be a (another) serious flaw in communication, as this kind of information is of interest for everyone, including those that aren't in beta.
lastly, given the number of people that thought they'd be given 30 days or more of gameplay, it obviously isn't just "Abriael's interpretation", as much as you love to point fingers in order to needlessly flame, because there's really nothing you can disprove.

Every time Hvinire posts one of those FAQs, I read it quickly and get a headache, like eating ice cream too fast. Then I go back and read it slower to understand it.
Anyway... This whole PC/PS3, service/SE accounts, v1/ARR registration is a maze of twisty passages, but here's a quote from the most recent one (today):
What's not said is how you can't apply an ARR PC code to your existing PC-registered account, or all that other stuff. The above is probably the only way it would work to combine the two-week "Welcome Back" plus 30 day "new purchase" trials (to get... ~44 day trial?).The 30 day trial will apply to your account.Let's say I purchased the the collector's edition for Version 1.0 and also have Legacy status. If I purchase the standard PS3 version and register it to my account, does the 30 day trial apply to my account, or would I have to make a new account.

this is better then being forced to buy the game again just to install.
No, *mate*, I have two nice quotes tucked away in my pocket, by Yoshida himself that prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the welcome back campaign is not the only stuff to look forward to, despite your hemming and hawing to the contrary.
If you have beta access, you should already know.
Quit overselling points that are non-issues.
