i sure they can do it somehowYou're correct Zen; they did tell us we'd be getting it^^
Edit - On the subject of hair:
To get obscenely long hair like that would be really difficult to have it so long and looking 'lifelike' ><.
It would clip like hell with pretty much everything (Here's to you, hoods, shields and 2h weapons that rest on your back!)
Even in the latest tour video when they showed the Female Ro with the long hair, it looked a bit like a wobbly board. Granted they're probably still tweaking physics and whatnot but with longer hair it's difficult because it needs to have a fluid motion all the way down otherwise it just looks odd><
The longer it is, the harder it is to achieve this effect. Also; more continued 'micro-motions' as I'll call them can create a lot of lag, especially if there are many people with this hairstyle. In 1-player games it's not noticeable because there are only so many people that would have that style... but in an MMO it wouldn't work well;;.
I've done a bunch of 3D modelling in the past and always found that the longer the hair, the harder it was to work with it and not have it look like some 'tubular glob stuck to your head' ; ;. Because of this, I'm not expecting to see anything longer than just below shoulder length ; ;it's does not need to be that long but somewhat long i would enjoy it

Somewhat long would be nice^^, but the longer they make it the harder it is to make it look 'high quality' ><; short hair is easy because you can make it all clump together and it looks like short hair haha, but with long hair if you clump it all together then it looks ridiculous ; ;, then there's the issue of clipping - If they wanted to get around the clipping, they'd have to make the hair sit funny and away from the body, which wouldn't look right at all... ho hair does that naturally! haha
Fingers crossed that the styles they do implement look decent! X3

i'm sure with the DX11 upgrade to the PC client it would make long hair work better. It's not a matter they can't it's a matter if they would make long hair. i like somewhat long hair at least.Somewhat long would be nice^^, but the longer they make it the harder it is to make it look 'high quality' ><; short hair is easy because you can make it all clump together and it looks like short hair haha, but with long hair if you clump it all together then it looks ridiculous ; ;, then there's the issue of clipping - If they wanted to get around the clipping, they'd have to make the hair sit funny and away from the body, which wouldn't look right at all... ho hair does that naturally! haha

They'll probably treat long hair clipping the same way they treat the clipping in 1.0, completely ignore it. Tyger's ponytail clipped a bunch of clothes particularly the WHM robes. Then again her staff also clipped with the robes...Somewhat long would be nice^^, but the longer they make it the harder it is to make it look 'high quality' ><; short hair is easy because you can make it all clump together and it looks like short hair haha, but with long hair if you clump it all together then it looks ridiculous ; ;, then there's the issue of clipping - If they wanted to get around the clipping, they'd have to make the hair sit funny and away from the body, which wouldn't look right at all... ho hair does that naturally! haha

That's because they got rid of certain physics and collision detection which made it worse than it was before. So if in ARR they still have it removed even on a new engine, it will clip pretty terribly.
All games have clipping issues, but XIV's was enhanced by that fact.
Not all items have been one of a kind. In the last easter event, you were able to get the previous years easter event. It'll probably work like that.
That's how it worked in XI for 11 years.
Event - Unique Item
Event 2 - Unique Item
Event 3 - Unique Item
Event 1 repeat - Unique Item + Old items
Event 2 repeat - Unique Item + Old items
Repeat.

I'm glad this thread is still going but how did we get on hair? Hey, whatever keeps the discussion alive. I hope for Starlight Celebration this year the rat-tail on my current hairstyle becomes optional.
