Stores can be like that, It's like the company says stuff before informing the stores, who don't watch gaming sites. Which is what I bet happens.

They are aware that I am stalking them for the information. *grins*

They have a EB exclusive tag on the pre orders but nothing different then what we already know...
Prices in Australia -_- $98 for PC and $118 for PS3

    Another interesting item:
''Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Prepaid Time Card'' - Grants a 60-day subscription to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn $38

I'm considering buying another copy to give to my friend (so I can also have the pre-order items ) - Does this make me an idiot? lol

    Holy shit, they're asking you to pay $38 for 2 months? That's a huge rip-off considering for Legacy it's $20 for 60 days, non-legacy it's $24~$30 ($12~$15/ Mo.) - I guess EB Games has to make a profit somehow?

Also - my god, AU Prices are a little higher in general aren't they?

ALSO! Unrelated topic - Who's considering buying an nVidia SHIELD?! I really want one so I can play FFXIV around the house, not just on my PC, plus it'd just be awesome to have. Now that they're release the GTX 780, I'm suddenly finding myself stuck trying to decide which GPU I want to replace my 2 550 Ti's with... (1~2) Titan, (1~2) 780, 2 680's @_@

I wonder if there will eventually be a way to play FFXIV on Jellybean OS (i.e. the SHIELD) so I can play XIV mobile/between class on the college Wi-fi. For the love of the twelve, it has a mic port so you can run Ventrilo/Mumble/Teamspeak while you play...whatever O_O!

As much as I'd love to have one now now now, I'm going to wait a while for the price to possibly go down, but more importantly, let nvidia release a newer, better version that's less likely to have issues =P

Our standard retail prices were established in an age when one Australian dollar bought around 60 US cents, so it used to make sense.
Of course, the exchange rate has shifted since then and the game wholesalers (not retailers) have decided to eat the profits that brings. You can understand why, because if the dollar falls again, they don't want to go bust from dropping the standard retail price.

Of course, in the meantime, a lot of people have turned to importing from the UK through online stores, since they share a localisation zoning with us for most platforms. A few online stores have actually made a business out of this "grey import" market with a direct focus on selling UK games to Australian consumers at UK retail prices. ozgameshop.com is one of them.
