I'm quite sure the "scholar" hatted person is just an arcanist with which Akihiko Yoshida took some liberties in costume design.

Art doesn't necessarily have to follow strict rules, and the "rule" that those need to be all jobs is IMHO just a (probably wrong) assumption

The arcanist appeared only In final Fantasy Tactics a2 before, so it's very possible that they simply merged Arcanist and Scholar's concepts.

On a side note, on the text art site the question of the day is "what job you'd like to see introduced in FFXIV?"

So~ About this lovely image

I am very interested in a couple of things.

The Arcanist is showing up in front with the jobs, now because it is new and shiny that could be ignored... but for the first time we see the head gear - and it is a Scholar's hat O.o
Also the Summoner is the only job who is not holding a weapon~! That is also very odd.
Then there is the vine decorates green hooded, red gloved mage int he background at the bottom... could just be a conjurer but still...
Also her hair is showing through the hood, perhaps we will be lucky and the hoods will stop making us bald underneath XD

Welp~ Those are the things I have noticed anyways ^_^

I've seen quite a few things in that picture that made me very very curious...

Like you've said, the Summoner is not wielding a weapon, just like the Monk. But, the job at the right side appears to be a Scholar who's wielding a Tome/Grimoire which we've only seen wielded by the Summoner. Would that be an indication that SE is working towards multiple jobs for 1 class? I actually hope they do. (^_^ )

Next to that, at the bottom left, you see Red Mage gloves (like you said), but the one at the top left (just left of the Bard) has a pointy had which looks like a slight mix between the Red Mage Chapeau and the Black Mage hat.

Just left of the Summoner you can see a brown coat we've seen as concept art in one of the recent Letters of the Producer Live broadcasts. I would almost think that it would resemble a Geomancer.

The one at the top left, just above the Bard, looks like a "Berzerker" type of armor.

The 2 at the bottom right have a flair of a "Pirate" or a "Thief".

But, that's only what i think. (^_^ ) To be honest... It could be anything.

I'd like a "Barret" class.
Gunblade class would be nice.
Summoner is an absolute must though.
I wouldn't mind seeing some other "races" from older FF games in here as well.
Like the lion race, with the flame tails or the Khimari fellows.
