Remember or Forget?; Final Fantasy XIV Online 1.0.

More and more, I find myself thinking of 1.0 and ARR as two separate games. That said, I'm sure there will be completionists who will see other players' 1.0 progress and go "Aw, man, I missed that." That's pretty much unavoidable, with one catch - those players won't be hanging out with the 1.0 people, at least at first. S|E has already said that they want to segregate the 1.0 characters at launch in order to prevent the economy of new servers from being imbalanced for some players. They want to ensure that new players won't be at a disadvantage or have to deal with inflated prices due to the overwhelming wealth of the legacy players.

Myself, I find myself wishing I'd come back to 1.0 sooner than I did, because I found myself wanting to complete more of 1.0's content before the final save. Nostalgic worst to first tale, and all that.

Umm...they aren't segregating the community...you have a choice on which server you decide to join. 1.0 Characters are only allowed on 'Vet' servers, but anyone can create a new character on a vet server. The only limitation is New Characters are only allowed on New Character Servers...but any 1.0 player is also free to re-roll on one of those servers if they wish.

You can create a new character on any server. "Fresh start" servers ONLY allow new characters. Existing characters can't move to one of these.

I realize it's not the clearest post in the world...but I did say it correctly.

There's often good reason why a new character may choose a veteran server. There are benefits in starting out with a smaller population. It's easier to get to know people and make a name for yourself for the social thing, and it'll be easier to get involved on dungeon trips.

Dunno how the economy will go, but I have some stuff leveled just in case. ^^

Why should we forget about 1.0? I honestly didn't think 1.0 was really THAT bad. I think all the haters just exaggerated a bit much. Also, how can people say that the graphics in this game sucks? I never understood that. This game(since 1.0) has one of the best graphics I've seen, especially the environments...compared to even games being released at this point!

What I wanted to discuss is if FFXIV 1.0. should be included as the whole FFXIV experience seeing how FFXIV:ARR is a reboot and will tell 1.0.'s story in its own way and people will never get to experience 1.0. again.

Well, sure. The abridged version doesn't exactly tell everything about the world and its experiences. And they were important in and of themselves as they defined the phenomenon of the players and linkshells coming back from the void. They aren't retelling my story, or your story.
