Anyway, as far as changing your name back, just force people to do paid name change. If you go through the trouble of getting married in game and want it undone, it's not their responsibility to baby you. In XI you could never remarry.

A woman doesn't have to change their name at marriage, I never did! Plus the couple can always choose a new surname if they really wanted to and start a new lineage instead of going for the more traditional / antiquated taking the surname of the male spouse.

Anyway, there's really no reason the system would be unfair to women, you simply flag both player's accounts for name change, and then its up to them to decide what they want to do. The man could take the woman's name, they could make a new family name, whatever they want.

Hell, RPers and those who follow the lore in naming conventions would be adhering to matronymics in certain cases anyways, and the whole who accepts whom's surname becomes rather foggy. That's why a simple name change flag for both players would cover all the bases, you could just leave your name as is in fact.

Regardless, as long as they're warned ahead of time whoever accepts the responsibility of changing their name will have to take that risk. The same thing is true in reality.

What are you even talking about? You're mad that no one understood what was either a tasteless pass at the LGBT community or deadpan sarcasm on an internet forum. Deadpan sarcasm doesn't work well with people that A. do not know you and B. do not have any audio/visual cues. And if it's the former, why are you surprised?
