Is this at all a reference to a particular Intro to Japanese textbook?? I remember driving my high school JP teacher nuts because we all thought it was hilarious to use in an example sentence and she just wanted us to forget about it (poor Michiko-san, lol...)

Actually it was in my Japanese textbook in high school, but my teacher was Satoh-Sensei. Her husband wrote/made the book. I thought it was cool that as husband and wife they taught Japanese, one in high school and the other in community college.

And yes, we kept bringing up that sentence all the way through Third Year.

Edit: Wait, you were my fellow Minnesotan forum user, weren't you? Maybe we did have the same textbook! Did you ever go to Mori no Ikei (Japanese language camp). I went twice, so I met a few of the teachers from other schools, not to mention students. I can't remember all of their names though.

I don't recall ever going to language camp. Of course, I can't even remember the name of the textbook itself... I graduated HS 9 years ago after all, and if that was from freshman year add another 4 years on top of that, half my life ago!! Goes without saying details will be fuzzy lol.

And yes, I am Minnesotan (Cedri is as well, turns out he and I live very nearby each other). Things I do recall doing for JP class were some language day thing at the MN Zoo where we made a poster about the snow monkeys, and a quiz bowl-like "Japan Bowl" held at Normandale College. But no camps in the memory.

Small edit: I'll try and think of some punny names to keep this thread on topic, lol xD Just need a little time. Was just thrown for a loop about the squirrel eating thing, heh...

Aha, so you probably can't be too far from the Twin Cities then. I'm a bit south of Minneapolis (and that's the most I'll put on the forums). Yeah, I didn't go to Japan Bowl, but we did the Zoo field trip. I graduated 7 years ago.
