Are minions (vanity pets) going to cost real money?

No they are not costing real money. Think they are either bought from NPC or dropped from monsters possibly rewards from achievements or quests. I think the game is staying with monthly subscription and not going toward the cash shop route.

They may or they may not, I'm not sure. But from all the information I've seen and read on the subject, there are no insinuations or even slight indications that they will. All we know so far is that there will be vanity pets. And if they were going to be acquired by using money IRL, then I think Squeenix would have said that.

But who knows? Maybe you'll be able to buy some bonus vanity pets later, like a pet Ifrit or Bahamut, with real life money. They simply haven't said anything about RL money so far, so it makes little sense to worry about it right now.

This, we already pay a sub fee, Yoshida made it clear SE won't budge on the sub fee and so long as we pay one cash shops will not happen. Now say if i buy a Baby Behemoth plushy and i get Baby Behemoth vanity pet code with it. I can agree with that since your buying a physical product the code is just a vanity incentive and could help generate needed funds from fans inside and out of XIV. Like the earring code that comes with the 25th anniversary collection.

Clear as day? Based on what, exactly? Yoshie has never said a single thing to suggest they will include any kind of cash shop in the game. None. Why would they now? Just like everything else in the history of XI and XIV it'll be bought with gil or quested. There is nothing to suggest otherwise, unless you can provide clear evidence to the contrary.
