Choosing to see things as you see fit, and taking words for different meanings than what they are, is not helping you.

It is a sequel. It is a new game. There are plenty of reasons why, you just choose to say "no they're not"

You will log in, you'll still be Melfina Amastacia , Lancer level 50, you'll still have your +2 dragoon spear or whatever. you'll still have the same skills. same monsters, same areas (revamped). many of the same game systems still in place. lol.

That's your opinion. The only difference is that I talk about facts.

I'm pretty sure FFXIV will still be taking place in the same areas, with the same characters and classes, same items, same data, and a lot of revamps, even if there's new coding, it's not a new game.

The areas are completely different. They have the same names, but they're completely new 3D models and textures.

Same characters mean nothing, as lot of sequels let you import your character from the previous game. Doesn't make them the same game.

Classes are completely remade, not even the combat system is the same. Some items make a comeback (but that happens in most sequels as well), but there are a ton of new ones.

I have to wonder what creates a hostile fanbeast such as yourself... I have played every FF, and loved most of them, played FFXI for 5 years. preordered FFXIV, collectors edition... but from the sound of your attitude you would sacrifice your unborn child for Yoshi P, hahaha. it's just a game.

Nice personal attack. Unfortunately it doesn't really bother me, and doesn't take any validity away from my arguments, that you can't seem to counter.

I'm looking forward to FFXIV's ARR update but it doesn't look like it's doing much new compared to other MMORPGs.

No, she won't. All classes will be completely redone. Characters won't have the same skills.

The same can be said for any sequel. Oh, the areas have been redesigned from scratch. Not "revamped", and most of the old game's systems will be gone, replaced by entirely new ones.

The only thing I have to say to any of this, is that... Even if it is an opinion. It's "Press Opinion" and that can hurt the integrity of the game as well as affect customer decisions whether to buy or not.

With that said... I don't think it's fair for them to bash a game solely based on a "Beta Version" 2hr trial. Just my 1 gil.

Personally, I'm not "angry" that one person didn't like the game. Plenty people don't like the game. I'm appalled (that isn't the same thing as angry), by the poor journalism that permeates that article to the point of making factually false points and using hyperbolic, flamebaitish and disrespectful terminology, and as such I criticize it.

There are other fairly negative articles out there, but at least they're written with a shred of respect for the people working on this game, and the writers did their best at the very least to get their facts right. And that's plenty ok.

There's a big difference between stating a negative opinion and misrepresenting and mocking a game, doing a disservice to one's readers.

If I was like Ben Kuchera, that you're defending, I'd just respond "Haha, you're the dude that made an account just to come here and make a nonsensical thread stating that they should scrap the PS3 version, you're a waste of my time" (which is pretty much exactly what he told us). Luckily I'm not like that, and I value discussion, so I take my time to respond to your points.

Here's one: "Copying this design from Guild Wars 2 isn’t a crime in and of itself" They got inspiration for it from Warhammer, same place GW2 did. Yoshi even stated this in another interview.

Also, yes, calling something half-assed is disrespectful to the devs, period.
