Server Transfers before Phase 3

I dont know why everyone thinks they will be able to pick a server. what ever sever/world you are on will be trasnfered to a new one with a new name thats all, you will not be able to change. john doe isnt just gonna be able to pick a new server just because he wants to it doesnt work like that with the data transfer and such. for the beta test youll be able to pick 1 of the 10 or all 10 if you want. at launch the new servers/worlds you can pick if you make a character anew with a new account. when the game launches You will already be doing cross world/server events.

Because SE has already said in the past that we'll get a free server transfer, it's just a case of 'when'.

I'm more curious about when we can make the changes to our characters from 1.0 since data is being saved from a later beta phase. Do we make our changes to them in the beta? Or do we get to do it at launch?

I think the window opens in beta phase 4 - but if some players can't make beta, they have 6 months from the start of that window to make the changes to their character.
I could be wrong though, I can't find the exact quote and I'm about to head out of the house D: Weekend volunteering ftw~

yes I do agree but its not gonna be at launch, and it seems as if people seem to think they are gonna move there entire shell when the game launches.

It may be at launch, there's been rumblings that we'll get to pick in beta phase 3 where we go but nothing is confirmed yet. The dev team are trying to find the best way to go about it .

yeah idk i think that would be a data transfer nightmare wouldnt it
i mean if they took everyone from the server you where on previous and moved it to new on fine but a bunch of people moving around idk how they would do that.

They did it a whileback; basically you put an app in on the lodestone saying which server you wanted to transfer to; there were a few to choose from.
SE would then do the transfer at a later date during a maintenance, it went really smoothly! The only downside was that there was limited space per server so some people couldn't go where they wanted.
I see this transfer going down the same way but with fewer space restrictions (hopefully) because a lot of players (not all) are going to move to a datacenter close to them, which will open up space for people to move about

I plan to move to local regional server, just to be on a level playing field of lag. It has nothing to do with isolating myself from an international community of players; I’ve met some great people from all over the Final Fantasy world. I just want the best possible client server response rates I can get.

They may have fixed server response rates from v1.0, but still the closer your server the quicker the response. There will be days when new content is released and everyone logs in at the same time.

I’ll keep an eye on the web pages of some of the folks I’ve hung out with in v1.0 to see where they’re going, we may land in the same place. New game so it’s a chance for a new beginning; exciting times!
