International server?

Has there ever been any mention of a server specifically designed for people who want to keep it "old school" and want a server with population from all around the globe?

Regional servers are a nice add to the game, but since this is not an fps where every split second counts, and since ARR promises to be much more lightweight than its poorly optimized former version, I would believe there's plenty of people who would trade off the extra second of lag to be able to play a FF MMO like it's meant to be, in a big worldwide community.

I know everyone can go in any server, but very few, say, europeans will go in a japanese server if they know they will find little to no english speakers, or an american server where most probably they won't find people online too often because of different peak times.
What I'm asking is if there is going to be any server, beside the ones labeled "Japan" "Europe" and "North America", one officially labelled "International".

I'm unsure honestly, I'm hoping they do have some international ones since it'd be nice to be able to mingle with people from all walks of life instead of kinda being pidgeonholed into your respective continents. That being said, anyone is free to join whichever datacenter they wish but as for official word on if there will be international servers, your guess is as good as mine. Let's hope that we get a response soon^^

Doubt it, there was one during 1.0 for EU though~

Let me give you a hint; No japanese player is going to pick a non-japanese server, international or not. That's simply how they are. Similarly, US players are going to pick whatever server is closest to them for convenience. The closest you'll get to 'international', labeled or not, is going to be a general euro server

Ya i agree i remember during 1.0 about to be release JP went to fan site requesting to not go to world A,B,C.

The issue is even if they make a international world it be base in JP servers which would end up bad because a lot of EU would go to a EU world same with NA.

It would be a world with small % of people from all parts because i read on the JP world some don't mind playing with NA some even said they like it. But still most people would go where they friends/guild is going.

This is sort of what I was worried about with Regional servers, even non-locked ones. I like the idea of playing with players around the world. Some of my best friends I met in FFXI and were from Wales and Scotland. I also love having the chance to brush up on my Japanese by playing with JP players.

For all of that, I am feeling incredibly pressured to join a server located in the US. Simply because I usually play in EST prime-time, and choosing any other server will have much lower populations during that time. I'm afraid whatever they do, diversity is going to be the first casualty.
