The whole Legacy debate wrapped up.

It's all about rewarding faith and support over the game and development team, nothing much to say about it.

IF, I say IF, since nobody will be able to tell until months after ARR goes retail, that the game doesn't work out for some reason, the legacy membership won't mean anything, as simple as that.

I bought 2 extra copies when they had the promotion to sell the game at $13 each. Back then nothing was very clear, if the game fails, I lose $26 outright. I bought them believing the that $26 investment was well worth the risk. Pre-orders work under similar concept.

Will somebody go on and yell after launch - oh it's not fair! How come he got the game for just $13 each!? Give me that discount too! I guess perhaps as old as an elementary school kid might still have a chance of doing it, probably not any older.

I was almost going to pay subscriptions for the 2 extra accounts just for the legacy status, but decided to let my friends make the call after their trial expired. They opted not to, and now they regret about it.

I think he meant your "many legacy will start from scratch" comment. Some may, but to call it "many" is a bit of an assumption.

Sorry for late reply! Yes many is not an understatement, out old characters all capped at 50 are what you would call dinosaurs. ARR is a brand new game, while my old char will be around it would be a damn shame if i didn't start from scratch to feel the game.. all fully capped legacy can fight it, but it the end they will make a new char and use the old one for support... I see it being just short of mandatory to level another char to 50 JUST to learn the game mechanics alone.

I believe the ability to qualify for legacy status was so well publicized you had to want to miss out on it to not qualify. I mean you had to run away from the game and just not give a damn about paying for it to succeed. They even sent out emails I do believe advertising it. The bottom line was they asked for 3 months of support from people. Those that stuck it out and gave it won out in the deal and can now enjoy 9.99 per month with unlimited characters. Those that didn't get to pay a bit more but hey at least you can still play the game and keep your old character. Not like they said oh you that don't support me let me erase your toon and make you a zero. No they didn't. Just know that stuff in life has time limits and they are there for a reason. Not just to pick on one person or isolate him or her. Pay more attention to things around you and you will receive more rewards then you can possibly imagine.

You're still very wrong I'm afraid. "Dinosaurs" or not, I see no reason at all to make a new character. I'll likely make a new one just to see what the opening cinematics are for a new character, and to compare to how Legacy players will start, but I can assure you I will never stop playing Llen.

From what I can tell, the entirety of my shell feels the same. We'll not be giving up what we earned.

I switched from XI to XIV 4 days after I would have had Legacy, I played solid for the last 5 months of 1.0
I have 4 level 50 jobs.. well you can see from my sig. I did all, missions, primal battles ect. before end.

My BF played for a week at XIV start, played again when I started for a week, but he quit at level 15 and said he'd wait for ARR.
He's Legacy

The problem isn't legacy/ non-legacy, it's the horribly flawed way SE decided to make people Legacy. I wished they'd at least given all 1.0 players equal chance.

For a lot of people they played all along, for many others they quit but still made legacy. My BF is a good example of this, he couldn't care less about 1.0 while I loved it! yet he's Legacy for playing 2 weeks..

While I'm disappointed I missed Legacy by so close, I'm still very excited to play ARR, and considering how much I loved 1.0 even if I have to wait until Phase 3, I know ARR is going to be even better!

Just my 2 cents because I know there's a lot of people with strong feelings today.

Legacy isn't a matter of how much you loved the game, but simply a matter of how much money you gave to Square Enix. It's really that simple.

If your boyfriend is legacy and you're not, it simply means he gave SE more money than you did. And SE is rewarding him for it.

Now, I would say that it would have been nice for Se to make the way to acquire legacy status more flexible (hell, if it was me, I would have let people that don't have it simply PAY for it, a-la kickstarter, but I'm a practical kind of person, and being practical doesn't always apply to this industry), maybe also recognizing those that purchased the collector's edition and adding some bells and whistles, but nothing's perfect.

Well power to you, I on the other hand will plant a new seed, and grow it to be on level with my current character... And use my current character to support the growth of that new seed.

As well i never said bench your current char, more so don't use it as an excuse to shout "i have nothing to do" 2 weeks in.
