Perhaps I'm an oddball, then. I typically strive to create characters that look nothing like me, and I almost always avoid the 'human' characters.

I'm with you on this one XD I don't even pick the same gender. I do tend to pick the characteristics that are most appealing to me (long hair "angelic beauty" features on guys)
