Aww man, you should look into crate training. It's really beneficial for dogs to have a little safe den, the crate should just be big enough for the dog to stand up, turn around and lay down in. This is handy since the crate becomes a safe 'den' area and also stops them from injuring themselves.
Dogs really live in the moment, so while he's acting scared; you guys have taught him that if he whines he gets affection D:. Thx for the advice, I do have a cage for him cause when we got him he was an abused dog from somewhere where he spent his entire life in a small cage, we still have that cage and if we just show it to him and open it up he goes into it right away without having to tell him anything. But since he spent the first 2 years of his life in there my mom spoils him now and doesnt like putting him in there, but if it will keep him safe we will have to do it i guess.

You typically only do it when no one is there to watch him at all.

As long as you don't keep him in there like aaaaall day he'll be alright^^, like ispano said - Crate him when there's nobody to watch him and maybe at night too if you'd like him to sleep elsewhere. If you want, you can change the crate so there's no negative stigma attached to it; it's really handy for any dog. My 50lb pit cross sleeps in his crate and if I have to go out to someplace he can't follow like the grocery store, he goes in the crate with a stuffed KONG toy to keep him busy. As long as your dog has some crate only activity like a KONG, you'll find that in time he will come to get really excited for crate time. You'll get to go out, he'll get tasty treats and no more torn ACL! win/win ^^
