In 1.0 my solo time was mostly made up of crafting, gathering, solo farming things like beastcoins. I was pretty busy whenever i wasn't doing anything with a group. I mostly agree with having an emphasis on group play but some solo fights to test your mettle would be cool.

I miss the single player BCNM (ENM? marionette fight whatever lol) in movalpolos, I used to do that weekly and it was kinda hit&miss sometimes if you'd win, but that was really fun!

Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means

Also i think it would be ridiculous if normal/random mobs were so hard, you must party. Wouldn't make sense, unless there's an army of them, and they are linked. But i think it's fine with raids/instances being party driven, while normal content is soloable.

Some people only have a few hours of playtime a day and want to get some stuff done without waiting for their LS to group assemble for a raid.

They want to log in and get stuff done right away and be free to leave on a whim.

Other people like to sit in town and chat for hour upon hours either killing time or waiting for a raid to start.

Why can't a game accommodate both?

    edit: Missed 2 words.

(Personally, I will just wait until friends log in, but I can see why others solo)
Developers trying to pander to Solo only players and group play players ontop of the crowd who craves PvP is why MMOs have been crap lately, because of people who fear spending time in an MMO or doing group stuff throughout rather than just 1% of the game.

Sadly though, Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game dropped the Multiplayer aspect because people who think MMOs should be solo personal playgrounds. So these days, MMOs are more MOGs than anything. Having the option to solo is fine, but developers took that option to being the standard.

It doesn't make sense to be able to solo most of your gameplay in a MMO either. There's a plethora of offline games that suit that.

They can, and I never said the game should have all group content, there should be solo content and plenty of it to. I just feel that there should be more grouping up over solo. That's just my honest opinion. It doesn't matter to me either way. The main point of this thread is to throw out there what MMO stands for. Yes there should be solo content, but not to the point where solo content is the dominate factor.

Well this is an MMO, I like to see what other people are doing. It doesn't mean I always want to solo, I solo when my friends are busy or can't find anyone wanna play with me. Why do MMOs have to have more forced parties? I just don't get it. I mean I would form a group if some missions require that but for exp parties I am not even gonna wait for that.

I always thought it made sense for group and solo play - as you level you get stronger, if you are fighting monsters of similar strength it makes no sense you need a group to complete it (though it may be a challenge each fight). Or if you level up to 99 and you go back to level 30 bosses it makes sense you should wipe the floor with their face.

I feel that once old content has started to die they should do this especially (unlock group content to solo play with a higher level cap and slightly different boss mechanics).

In FFs usually your character will get boss like many levels after you fight that boss - and that if you really wanted to you could challenge a boss to a duel.

Because turning all content into solo play destroys multiplayer experience I've never suggested this except for content that has begun to die (and you just cant find a group anymore to experience the story or complete required missions without begging for hours (content finder will help with this but it wont prevent it entirely, just delay the death)).

It should be up to the player to decide what the dominate factor in their experience is (solo/group), not you.
