Dev Question about Server restructure.

It has been known for quite some time that they are making regional servers. They are keeping the older servers and creating new servers that our old characters cannot transfer to.

My question is:
Where in the physical world will all the older servers be located? Will they all stay in Japan? Are they going to be moving the servers with a higher NA or EU population closer to the their own region?

I was worried less about the location and more about the actual server code.
To my understanding they were previously using LUA scripts for the server.
LUA...for a server...

Lua is great for small tasks and UI's however it doesnt work well doing a job such as processing lots of sequential information all at the same time, E.G 50 different Leve-Quests, Battles, Crafting, Communications, Gear Changes etc.

If you played the game at all during the ATOMOS event this was most apparentley

LUA scripts work on a "Okay, i've done this, now what next.."


If all that I typed was in-fact correct and that they're redoing the actual base code and architecture for the servers they could still be in Japan and run five times more efficiently than 1.0

I'll edit my post if I find any information pointing otherwise!

I think they said they all be in JP but they be some in NA,EU that old 1.0 char can go too. But who knows they said they have to wait and see how many players are turning in beta 1-3 so too they have there numbers we wont know for sure.

I obsess over the news of this game, but I haven't seen where we can't transfer our old characters to the new servers..

1. Is that for ALL the new servers or just a select few?
2. Does that also mean we can't transfer our old characters over to a server specific to our region?

I'm gonna be a little pissed if I can't do number 2.

Just like someone else on the forums explain but can't find that person post.

Type1 A,B,C,D,E servers
Type2 A,B,C,D,E,F,G

1.0 can only enter type1
New starting players can enter type1 and type2

Type one would have new worlds that be region same with type 2

this is how i understand they doing it and if they change that people going to be piss.

Cant remember where they said but i remember them saying 1.0 chars will all be on JP servers, the news servers will be in other regional areas. So you'd have to make a new char for the first 6 months if you want to play on an NA server, since you cannot transfer an old char right away.

no one of the dev team made a post saying that they be some regional worlds for us 1.0 chars to join.

It is most probable that all the original servers will remain in Japan. It makes the most sense as that's where they were before, though of course we can't be certain.

However to clarify for the OP:

There will be both "fresh start" servers that we can't transfer to, as well as non-fresh start servers that we can transfer to. We can also make new characters on any of the worlds.
