I just bought the snake bite controller too. Doesn't seem to brake apart yet. The only thing that might be uncomfortable is press the L2 and R2.Used to have these specs for beginning of playing XIV in July 2011.

Make sure you install the drivers ahead of time. I heard the controller has problems if you don't install the drivers. The nice thing about the controller is that you can assign double the amount of features because of the function button. I prefer the FFXIVs L2 and R2 buttons over the PS3's controller actually.
When I connected my controller to my PC, it installed everything by itself. I had way more issues setting up the X360 controller I used before I bought this XIV controller.

Recently upgraded from an iMac 27" (late '09)
Here's my new setup:
Mobo: Gigabyte Z77x-UP5 TH
CPU: Intel i7 3770k 3.5Ghz Quad (clocked to 4.6ghz)
Cooling: Corsair H80i
RAM: Corsair 16GB DDR3
GPU: Asus GTX 680 4GB
Monitors: iMac 27" (2560x1440) & some 22" LG monitor/tv combo.
Set up as a dual boot Mac OSX & Win 7
That's the important stuff at least..
