Bots and hackers effect everyone. No matter how blind you are to it. My guess is Viii knows a bot or hacker or did some rmt trading yourself.

Rmt isn't JUST selling gil, its selling accounts and items for real money, which can be against the law. Kinda like bootlegging movies your selling it as your own. I forget what the term is called.

It would be nice if a community rep could post a statement in this thread to explain exactly what the situation is here - and in what kind of presence the STF has in game. Do they still report bannings etc in FFXI?

Also - to the person(s) who loved bots and there effect on mat prices, bots drove prices so far down in FFXI that as of a bout 4 years ago levelling a craft wasn't worth a damn, it was one huge gilsink with pretty low potential to make regular money on. All the long term players adn end game shells had the money, most people who joined at the 360 launch were joining the game handicapped. I hope this doesn't ring true for the PS3 launch.

It's gonna take a lot of pressure to get a response to a topic like this. It's not an easy home run that they swoop in and crack like in other topics asking about info or popular suggestions getting popular replies. When you show the devs the ridiculous range at which an obvious bot with an obvious hack is doing business in their game, after their GMs have no actioned it...what do you say? Sorry? We're prospectively proactively brainstorming new innovations and progressive thinking in relation to RMT in addition to visualizing and establishing a clear concept of what's possible now?

The early plan to fight RMT was to fundamentally change the game in ways that would kill their money shots. That failed, because it killed players along with the RMT.

So what now? That bot and hack is still doing exactly that in the video. The bot versions are getting better and better. Only a matter of time before they walk from node to node, and drill into position data, then it's over.

But it's not just about RMT. There are a lot of illegitimate players who fuel their crafting and shard farming with bots, whereas a player like me spends about 2 tricorns a level buying shards and then *actually* is present for the synths.

After the run around with SE , STF and the GMs i HAD to show everyone the visual proof to what was going on in my server (Saronia) Everytime i see things like that bot , The lala Army that isent doing anything but poping leves thay dont even get the SP or EXP its just away for the call it RMT or whatever it is to level fast to then probaly Bot camp NMs. Even the lesser NMs witch some people want the gear from might soon have issues gaining the gear if theres a bot camping it . Sure theres one or two Rare/Exc. Item. But the NMs also drop regular crafted items ( Shoes,jewlery,ext.) That thay can sell cheep or NPC to fule there gil banks to do accual RMT stuff. To turn a blind eye or to allow it to me just isent right.

As i said i really hate Bots and RMTs. And im glad i could shine the light on what is going on. Again feal free to post up Bots or RMT type dealings the more we can prove the faster things will be done about it. Hopefully

the common misconception is that all bots are RMT. This is false as I know many who bot on occasion and not one of them is affiliated with RMT activities. CAN botting hurt the economy? If the bot itself is designed to, then it will, but not all of them are/do. Bots designed to gain sp for the player off of mass production of low rank, low cost, "junk" items does absolutely nothing to hurt the economy. The bot shown in the OP is a little different. I have mixed feelings regarding that one...

All bots hurt the economy equally. Your friends who bot their crafts are no different from RMT. They're MMO bottomfeeders. They don't deserve to be the level they are. They don't deserve the profit from being that level. They don't deserve to spend the gil they earned. Someone else deserves whatever they get with that level, gil, profit, and everything they never earned.

No difference, at all. Botting players should be suspended on sight and banned at their next infraction.
