I'm not really a truck/car type of person so my only important question is... can I cause mass mayhem with these trucks? It's actually incredibly fun. It's quite relaxing traveling 1000 miles across Europe...and the 70,000 euros I can make per day is nice too. It has some RPG aspects too. You gain EXP and when you level up, you get a skill point. Use the point to get skills allowing you to haul more dangerous cargo further and for more euros. You also get to own a Truckin' business, and manage that too, your truckers go out and make you money, and level up and get skills just like you.
Each truck can be heavily customized. You can upgrade your engines, transmission, chassis, etc for performance boosts, and you can buy cosmetic things too like bumpers and different lights to put on those bumpers, bigger sleeper cabins, more complex paint, different door handles and mirrors, it's crazy. The demo is on Steam so I'd recommend the demo. It's actually quite long and if you buy the game after the demo, the saves transfer to the real game.
I actually do like simulation games a lot though. I prefer farming to trucks though. Yay Harvest Moon. :P

Yeah, you can run into cars and stuff. Unfortunately, high explosive cargo won't blow up at 100% damage. It's a simulation though, so there are laws. Hitting another car will fine you 400 euros. SOmetimes you get away with it though, you'll hit someone but not get fined.
Just the other day I was heading somewhere, and i was running really low on gas. There was a gas station close by but would make me miss my turnoff. And I found out the next one on my route was too far, I wouldn't make it. So, I go past the exit ramp and refuel at the nearest station. Crazy UK highways have a wall/divider thing separating the different directions, so I couldn't just make a u-turn. So, I did what any responsible trucker would do in that situation: I went the wrong way on the highway, back to the off-ramp I had to pass to refuel, turn around in the middle of the highway and made the off ramp. All that while lugging 22t of fuel (oh the irony!) behind me.
Yeah, I got the skills. And no fines for that maneuver. UK police were in awe I guess.

Maybe I'll have to play it just to freak myself out with the crazy UK highways and crash into stuff.
Also I don't follow rules in car games.

There's also a heavy modding community. Everything from truck skins to new maps, and there are mods that either alter or remove the fines all together, don't quote me on that though.
Ohhh. I'm super bored so I think I'll look into that.
It is. The newest one is pretty great too, played the crap out of it for 2 months straight until I burned myself out. Y'know other than the fact that all the townspeople are jerks to you when you build their houses with your own money and items...
