considering the only reward for more appraisal is repair matsYea, sorry I may not have been clear, I know this is the case but I guess my question is: for you, what is more rewarding, the SP gain per synth or the reward you get from higher appraisals - and is the risk worth it? IMO, so far, I much prefer the SP gain and ignore the high appraisal because the rewards just aren't worth it.
SP all the way, there is no alternative

for the most part yes
weaving youll get fent
LW gives you spetches
smithing gives nuggets(which may have a use at least)
alchemy gives you silex(usualy)
and so on
personaly, unless the synth is lower then you and you are doing it for marks only...then yeah get some extra appraisal but not worth it on stuff your doing for sp cuz you usualy dont got alot of room to work with durability wise

OK I'll keep that in mind, thanks, I was leaning towards SP anyway.
Before all the nerfs to crafting quality I would aim to get my appraisal as high as possible because there is a point (nearly unreachable now) where it's very much worth it. But now I don't even bother, just standard spam because even like ~50 higher appraisal won't be very noticable, if at all.
You get slightly more SP, but your SP/time likely goes down because you spend a lot more time trying to get the highest quality possible. In my opinion, it's just not worth it anymore.
