Staff + breathing! :3 I tried poi but I could never really get the hang of them lol ;~;.

Your scythe looks amazing! I've never actually seen one before or know how they work ;;. I'm too wrapped up in the days of kevlar wicks and liquid paraffin lol

And thank you! The scythe was a random thought I had, and it's the only fire tool (other than large-scale computer controlled propane flame effects) that I play with. It's made from an old Army Surplus scythe, and I just kevlar wicked the blade after a serious dull-down. As for how it actually spins/how you spin it....see video! Bloody thing is 12lbs though, so it's a serious workout swinging it around, lol.

My old staff was really lightweight, about 3/4inch thick and 5ft long with kevlar wicks coiled at each end. I had to keep the staff really lightweight because not only did I pass it around my hand, but through my fingers aswell if I wanted some really fast rotations in there D: My middle finger (poor bird) would be so bruised at the end of a show since the staff would keep passing mainly over that one ><

Breathing is FUN! Though it sucks if you accidentally swallow a little fuel, your burps taste of it for the next week hahaha

Yeaaaahhhh. It's a great workout though! And holy crap....5ft long? You spin a decently long staff! Most of ours are around 3 1/2ft to 4ft. That's flippin' awesome! Even more awesome with the fast rotations. My jaw drops every time I see someone spinning one really fast. And I've heard the same thing from my breathing friends! After a show they'll usually want a strong drink. :P

So you spin in shows?! Are you on the west coast or east coast?!

LOL, and no way! So you ARE on the West Coast! SWEEEET! We put on a fire show here in Reno NV every July...23rd? I always forget the exact date. But we shut down an entire two city blocks downtown for it! We have people and groups from all over the West Coast come to spin/play. You n' your husband should come on down and check it out!

We also put on shows all around here sometimes. Controlled Burn Reno is the name of our group...and the show is called Compression!

Ahhh! That's like 3 days after my birthday, now I want to take a trip! haha

My biggest goal at the moment is to hit up a festival like Burning Man and perform there. I would seriously give my left leg (not my arms.. I need those for sweet, sweet spinning! haha)

I really want to check out your show too!! It sounds like a blast!
I used to perform at a lot of (il)legal raves in the UK lol and sometimes music festivals but I haven't done that for a few years now since I moved to the states ; ;.

West coast! Needing a new staff though, my baby got bent in a house move;; lol.

Long staves are the best for me I think, I don't mind the shorter ones but then I spin them way too fast since they're so much lighter ><. I like to feel a little resistance as it moves so I don't lose control D:.

My next one down was a 4ft, it was decent but for some reason I feel a lot more comfortable with the 5 ; ;

I want to get into doing spin shows stateside but it's hard to find them anywhere near Lewiston ID though I did a lot of events back in the UK!

Do you do many spin shows here in the states? :O

And yes, strong drink after is best XD You NEED a glass of JDs or Soco to take the taste out haha (And to overpower the fuel burps rofl. Paraffin makes you burp like a champ after for some reason lol)
