To speak to the original post: Abriael is pretty much right on the nose. It was stated that while there isn't a firm timeframe to share, the implementation of Ishgard, and related content, will debut after the battle fixes are introduced.

While we understand your enthusiasm to see Ishgard-related content and the upcoming battle fixes, and I know some of you want an exact year/month/day/hour/minute/second, we unfortunately don't have to share at this time.

Thank you Bayohne! The Community Reps need to ban a few people for a week or two so they can stay away from these boards and relax.

This makes sense though and I figure since the battle stuff is the main priority, a lot more can begin to come after it. Even though Ishgard tempts us with her siren's song, it would be nice to get battle information soon hopefully

Thanks for your continued support Bayohne. I think when the new Dev team first got started it was probably impractical to create a timeline of expected content/fix releases. However, now the new Dev team has had almost 5 months, shouldn't they have a better idea about the capabilities of their teams and when to expect new content and fixes? Obviously its impractical to pinpoint which days/weeks to expect content, but it should be possible to say what month or quarter. I think many of us would be put at ease if a schedule (similar to the one released for FFXI) was created for FF14. Yoshi-P created a letter just to clarify that the devs are working on other things besides events, but for most players its really hard to see that when all we are given are ambiguous statements.

I really think a rough timeline on when to expect new battle system, armor system, end game dungeon, Ishgard, improved crafting system, etc. would help tremendously.

    Just my two cents!

seems like the current theme is season which could equate to quarters I guess.

When you implement content that needs to be tested extensively in-house, not only you don't know *for sure* when that content will be finished until you're quite near to finishing it (since the synergie between different teams are complex, and often if something goes wrong within a team, it delays the work of other teams as well, in a cascade reaction), but you also have to take in account the very concrete possibility that the finished content will go to the QA team for internal testing, some critical bug, problem or incompatibility is found, and the whole piece of content/system needs to go back to development in order to be fixed. Then it needs to go back to QA in order to be tested again (and they cannot *just* test the fix, but they need to test much more extensively to make sure that the fix itself didn't cause other bugs or incompatibilities) and so forth.

The problem with announcing timeframes early in this conditions is that most gamers do NOT know or aknowledge the above problems, and take a missed timeframe as a broken promise, resorting to venting their frustration by flaming the developer or even quitting.
That's why not announcing timeframe until such timeframes are set in stone is a golden rule, and you won't see SE breaking it. Yoshida himself said, in one of his first interviews, that he's simply not going to make promises until he is sure that he can keep them.
