I find it funny mostly because it's not the excitement to be a tester and offer detailed bug reports.

Are you kidding, we are being told to exploit and break the game! No one's going to call a GM on us if we find a waterfall spitting out mad gil and we use it, of course we have to report it, but I think thats fun.

Then testing out new systems, and seeing new cutscenes. Sure, we're there to make sure they work, but we can enjoy the ride while we're there.

Live letter with Beta on and him on a random server ( hope it's the server I'm on) and were going to party in a Dungeon and party like it's no tomorrow.

It'd be much more easier and efficient for him to be there when beta starts though he doesn't need to be there, but we've yet to get the benchmark, which is coming before the test. The themes of the letter is the beta test and launch, so there's a good possibility they're only talking about the phases then talking about what may come at launch including a release period of summer or fall.

You know there is an opportunity here for one epic trolling concerning all the tension surrounding the beta. So imagine you get an email with your code for beta in it, you input your code, load up thinking about how much fun you're going to have playing with the character creation, but as soon as you load in you get this:

It's a funny paradox how the general public is so fanatical and passionate about something, but then the tone changes to a far more casual one after the game (or the patch, whatever) is released.

It's more that we earnestly want answers. I know I become passionate again when I tell others about something new and cool, but normally once I gain the information I don't spend very long raving about it.

An example is the crafting revamp in 1.0. Between the increased animation speed and the new guaranteed-to-work abilities, I was ecstatic for a good week. No more "oh, maybe you'll get a better success rate, but because of Murphy's Law I'm gonna fail your every move".

what makes the most sense to me is when they do the written letter they will give us the benchmark and then start beta on Monday. It's just speculation so don't hold me to it. But that seems most logical, that way they don't start it on the weekend.
