This has already been discussed to death. And no, there's no reason to include a further timesink into the game (and XP loss is nothing else than a timesink).
So no, thanks.

Plus if you make a mistake and your party loses xp because of you, they're going to be much more upset with you than if they just wiped, you really want players getting mad at each other because someone had a lag spike?
Just punch yourself in the nuts when you die; it would have the same effect.
Another troll city thread(if you are serious about this then i apologize). If you are serious then losing xp/sp instead of repairing gear is by far the stupidest idea ever. I thought this way all 7 years i played ffxi and this will never change. If you lose a battle how do you lose experience? If i walked outside and someone threw a brick at me what did i learn? I should duck next time... Then i would go to the hospital and get fixed up...
This is no longer the Dark Ages of MMOs. We don't need XP/SP loss. All that ever did was piss people off and add tedium to the game.
Oh look lag spike... dead... oh look glitched mob...dead....oh look train...dead. I assure you as much as durability sucks people will be more up and arms over sp/xp loss, its an unneeded relic of a feature from the past.
No thanks. If you want SP/XP loss why not join the nuts who like perma-death? Once you die once, delete your character and start again.
We're already penalized by waiting 3 minutes and being teleported away from the fun monster that killed us.
The issue is the game is to flawed in the battle system to warrent it, if they didnt have mobs that have skills that can one shot people it wouldnt be an issue because then you at least have a chance. Also you have to take into consideration traveling past aggressive enemies, we dont have silent oils, deodorant, or invisibility potions like we did in XI, also loosing XP/SP in FXIV would be very minor since it is so easy and quick to get back so really it wouldn't make the game any more difficult then it already is, it would just make it annoying also dont forget durability is not the only penalty having to wait on weakness is there to which can and does suck.Wow, I gotta hand it to Tanaka. People really do want a game handed to them on a silver platter. No challenge, no incentive to do well. From the responses I'm seeing in this thread, Tanaka would have done well to just make everyone invincible, and start at level 50 and have all quests completed.
The only thing SP/XP loss achieves in a game is preventing your players from exploring the wonderful world you spent all that time making. It's a good thing that those xp loss / xp debt / corpse and loot loss days are behind us.
strategy has nothing to do with it for most situations. Sometimes people get 1-2 sometimes 3 shotted from a skill no avoiding that. Higher level battles this will occur. SE did the whole exp loss with XI and that made leveling all that much harder cause then people wanted cookie cutter builds that ensured highest exp gain and survivability.
