Yesterday Life servers almost went down. Some of the mobs had grass textures. The admin did a hot-fix which fixed the issue, but not before I snapped a few screen shots. Did anyone else experience this issue?

I thought they were just broadening the spectrum to allow lower end machines to run the game smoothly. Pretty sure the graphics will still be great if you are running it on the higher end.
People just want to play the game I suspect, and anything to slow that down is against their desire (also people like to mock each other).
We still have what I assume will be just like alpha->beta 1.0 where the lightning gets changed drastically and that will help a lot but there are defintely some things that have gone backwards as well.
I havent decided to catalog them just because A. can only use NDA free screenshots B. I wanted to wait till beta
So there after I read whenever the graphic updates of what will be done - I hope to point out some things that are manageable.
I wont suggest redoing all the textures, but if they have high res textures sitting around they should consider a patch (like on the graphic milestone update), I wont suggest redoing all the models but to create a small handful of short bladed grasses to be used on high setting I will suggest.
I understand they dont have all the time in the world and I'm not forcing that issue here, in my OP I added what I said to Zenaku which was if they said their graphic milestone would have it then that is awesome.
That is the hope :P
(alpha footage says that the screenshots are true - but again we have to wait till beta for the best idea, I dont see why I cant post this in the dead forums though, I mean the mods have let the meme thread live.. lol)
@Cedri, that photo is really cool~ Looks like a giant chia pet(try to add something to the main topic though, like grass in games lol)

I'd rather have "a step backwards in graphics" if it means not having boring stuff to look at all the time. 1.0 was bland to the extreme. I don't know how anybody can defend a world full of nothing, especially when it wasn't even that good looking to begin with.
Speaking that 2.0 runs better then 1.0 I dont see the argument either that you couldn't have both.
Yoshida has put it in these terms, if you ran medium in 1.0 you will be running high in 2.0 no problem.
That means they have plenty of room to keep the high settings for those who actually want a real high setting.
That aside, I agree 1.0 was very flat >.>
Because it makes all the scenery look much better? But maybe you care more about just speed runs for the loots.
If they cut down on quality on any aspect, it will make everything else look bad.
Clouds are hard to get to look good, because they generally are staticI mean the cloud shape never change.
If you got multiple layers of animated clouds, that can look quite nice.
That's why most games with grass got clutter density/view distance/quality settings.
Those with low-end PCs can turn down settings low, while those with good comps can turn it up; there's no reason to make half assed job of it for everyone, just cause some can't play with max settings![]()
I'm not arguing content just the quality of the graphics.
