Reporting Other Players

Ok,

So myself and some others have noticed something troubling to us. We have reported people who have violated the terms of service, either by using an inappropriate name, numerous bots, even hackers who have set their characters up with thousands of hp.

We've made probably two dozen reports between us and none of them have been addressed. The bots remain, the names remain unchanged, and the hacker continues.

Has anyone else had this experience, and why is SE letting this stuff go on? Why have a terms of service if you won't enforce it. Some of these things are minor irritations, but others have a very real impact on the ability for legitimate players to enjoy the game.

Come on SE, step up and enforce your ToS!

I got over 50 reported ppl already...RMTs of all sizes, races, ages, colors and genders...somehow they are stll walking free...

Hopefully they are leaving them there but keeping track for some ban hammering when the time for PS3 version come...

RMTs were afraid of Tanaka...but when he got kicked they all felt that it was safe to take over Eorzea =P But seriously...i just assume SE is treating the game as beta ATM so, right now, the RMTs are "positive numbers" for population count...i guess if they all get banned FFXIV will be losing like 20% of its current average population at all servers.

aye, i feel FFXIV currently as a late beta. with the OP and many of yourselves, i have reported countless times and continue to witness the perps( lol perps) abuse the rules and regulations, by RTM and bots and cheats.
GM instant call would defintely help, and catch the perps in action, rather than reporting through email.

like Lienn said, i hope by ps3 release and reimplementation of monthly fees, the hammer will come down on these people.

I've also had a simmilar experience, except I reported someone who used derogatory remarks in /say about my sexual orientation. I recieved an auto message saying that the person was dealt with. Low and behold that person didn't even know I had reported him. Game masters are pretty much useless and blatant liars. But it makes sence, it's on par with the bad GM service ffxi had to offer.

I wouldn't imagine people can hack the game very easily.. this game is peer to server, there's nothing to hack without first breaching server-side security and manually editing the database, which is pretty damn hard in an MMO, between custom access software and formats, and time it takes to find a specific character and change things and so on.

But the bots? Yeah, they desperately need to be reportable from in-game. RMT spammers already are, after all.

Well, either that, or something like Mabinogi's captcha bombs. Players use them on bots (usable once every ten minutes), bots fail to solve the captcha they're hit with? They get locked in place for a half hour. Happens again? One hour. Two, four, eight..

I like the captcha bomb idea. That's a really good solution.

As for the hackers, I didn't see it first hand, but my friend said he saw someone get hit for like 400 damage and his health bar barely moved.

As far as losing 20% of the population, so what? They aren't paying, and they aren't doing anything constructive for the rest of us, so who cares if we lose that 20%?

I have reported several bots in the past and SE has done nothing to these same bots (I seen the same names 3 weeks later cuz I wrote them down). I think (not sure) if you were to call a GM that might help. I havent seen a bot in a lil bit because I do not go around the r20 camps anymore.

I dont think the 20% decrease is bad, its actually good by freeing up server space to make the game run smoother.

Nah, it won't. Their job is dealing with players getting stuck, harassment, and solicitation. 3rd party software use reports to them earn a reply telling you to go tell the STF through the support page.
