Where are Eorzeans heading to in the distant future?

    Hello fellow gamers,
while we are waiting on beta invites to reach our inbox..hopefully, i thought we could discuss where the game is headed to after launch and after the first expansion, the topic here is about the future, and for people like me who play FF for a long time

now allot of us, if not most, have played FFXI, and thinking back to a time before the release of the first expansion "Rise of Zilart" the game didn't have much to offer (much like the state of XIV 1.0), and its selling point was that it was a FF online game, then the expansions gave depth the the game experience

personally i wouldn't like FFXIV to be a FFXI clone, simply meaning don't give me the valkrum dunes map to level up in... but it doesn't mean completely ignore all aspects of the game, or atleast the thought process that went into it, because at the time there was nothing like it, and ide like to see the same thing in todays FFXIV, originality thats done in a bright way.

content like Sky and Dynamis for example, or Sea, or the aht urghan Mob invasion of the city, i would like to see a less time consuming versions of em in FFXIV, but ofcourse not a copy/pasted version,

we've got a few things to look forward to, like the new F.A.T.E content, and props to the Devs because it looks promising, and the housing system will add to the players imagination about the realm at least,

however its not enough, and im sure Yoshi knows this, but were at the doorsteps of the new game so the devs got allot of time to think out what to do next after the first expansion, i feel the more our imagination is stretched the better,

for example.. you know how we have the 3 main cities, im thinking on the lines of..(dosent have to be exact) about we having 1 more big city for beastmen or which ever foe, where you fight through mobs, and sneak in for main story,or quest, or to make an alliance with a group of em whom you can summon to help you with hard content once in awhile, to buy rare items only sold by NPCs there, some check points and puzzles, but not make it so dependable that we wouldn't hang in our own main cities, maybe thats what Ala mhigo will be like if they build a map for it? i dunno lol

i've read all the documents SE released and the road maps, and we have some good stuff coming our way, like the free roaming Primals ! where if a group beats one they can summon it for assistance anytime they need for a limited period <-(i assume)

what do you guys think regarding content in the future, do you like everything thats been released by SE in regards to that? or do you feel somethings are missing?

for me i think they are going the right direction, but just need a bit of originality to outlast the other MMOs in the market ^^

Something I disliked was how content in XI seemed to be designed with a 75 cap in mind, and that the increase to 99 made a lot of stuff obsolete. This was a shame, because XI did very well in creating 'sidegrade' gear that made all endgame content continue to be relevant.

So one hope for XIV is that the game is designed with level 99 in mind from the start and we don't discard our gear every time there's a level cap increase.

I'm praying to The Twelve for a CCG minigame (Triple Triad or Tetra Master or similar), as I think that'd be a reasonably small investment in development time for decent PvP content that would take a lot of player time to master.

Although it has been confirmed, another thing I'm looking forward to experiencing is the housing system and its relation to Free Companies and crafters. I hope it's very involved and not just simply a gil-sink.

I am pretty sure Yoshida is looking at what made XI great, and what ended up hurting it. I loved XI. It started off slow, small, the expansion made it much better, challenging, and sometimes too challenging (thank go for the hard work of everyone working on the wiki's).

Yoshida seems to listen to feedback, so that's a plus. XI was complex for it's time. XIV will become more complex and we see those plans on the road map. Hopefully a balance will be found.

i agree on PVP Mjollnir, i also think there should be spectators, Remember the small arena for chocobo race in aht? think it should be done like that where players view from a higher area, where in XI u stood out of the way but in the same altitude,

one thing that i think would be a great addition is Free Company vs FC , 8 players from FC1 vs 8 players from FC2, instead of the norm 1 vs 1, though it should be just an option, so thats something..

also involving the 12 gods of Eorzea more into actual game content instead of just a story line, they sort of did something like that with the /pray quest in 1.0 but still lol

what about adopting a skill tree system to develop your Race, not your class, since some people are asking for a race bonus (same as XI), ide say let the players customize it instead of it being forced upon you based on your race, if u like a BLM build and your a human build your Race stats to boost your exiting INT MND etc, instead of Lalafels having an advantage in overall DPS and magic, just for example..

I think for the larger scale PvP battles it's been mentioned that all three GCs will fight each other, but I haven't heard anything about FC fights. It's been said that FCs DO pledge themselves to a single GC (which is kinda odd considering you have people from other GCs in your FC) so maybe they'll just keep the fighting between GCs themselves. They might introduce something later on for fights between FCs, like Ballista or Brenner, if the demand is popular enough.

Based on the direction ARR is heading, I think it will feature more new content than ff11 did over the years, following the standard MMO route where players can conquer new things instead of repeating same events over a period of few years, like in ff11 sky/dynamis/sea it was a fun event, but it lasted way too long, I mean doing dynamis weekly for a few years got old really fast, and I think (hope) in ARR that will not be the case, having new content to conquer and explore more often is a good way to keep players playing.

Have you played XI lately? They've redesigned quite a bit of the old endgame content (Dynamis, Nyzul Isle, etc.) to allow continued relevance even at level 99.

But still no one does Ballista...
